not looking forward to tomorrow morning
« on: September 30, 2017, 09:09:31 pm »
So I got a call last week saying "our window cleaner has let us down, can you come today" a re-opening of a local pub and the windows need doing as the grand opening today.

Me being me says "Yes of course, will after 5 be ok?" so I went down there and gave em a wash down, pointless realy as some bloke was wandering around the insides with scraper and making a right mess. place was opening at 6 so didn't have time to go inside only enough minutes to give the outsides a pole over.

I bargained with the bloke I was dealing with when he asked how much, I told him it depends! if its a one off call out type jobbie I'll have to charge accordingly (license to print money) or if he gives me the job going forward I'll go easy on him.

He agrees and the job is mine, so I arrange to go back last Sunday and I spend 2 1/2 hours scraping scrubbing and washing, the windows are now perfect.

All except the external upstairs windows which will need bronze wooling by hand to get the paint and other crap off!
Now the windows are not high, a little lower than your average but........I've always been scared of heights, despite ladder trading for two years prior to wfp(my saviour).

After giving away the ladders and ladder racks I vowed never to breach my comfort zone in that way again...but I want this job!

So in the morning I will be up a ladder once again scrubbing scrapping....and holding on for dear life....oh the good old days eh!

And those that find my ramblings boring....your dead right...a bit like ciu nowadays!

I know it'll be a nice little weekly touch up. That's why I'm gonna "get up there"

Iv had jobs were I think the 1st clean will be a pita and they have been , large properties that are being done up but want their windows done at the same time. Once they've had the drive done and everything is nice and tidy , they are great jobs and I think to myself that I'm glad I stuck it out

I wouldn't rely on a pub being a long term job. They open and close and they can change hands like Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Good luck with it though.

I'm not looking forward to cleaning a fascia/soffit in Newton Mearns (high up on outskirts of Glasgow) tomorrow as there is 45mph winds forecast for the day.

I don't rely on any of my work individually, wouldn't be wise!

I rocked up this morning and instead of getting the ladder out I put my doodlebug on with the bronze wool pad on it and gave it a good scrub .

Sorted.

Best to change him always for the job as a one off then go from there.
What would you do if he says "actually yeah cheers for that mate my sons going to give them a once over now"  meanwhile you've scraped and risked your life for a low regular price
