What hoses are you using for hot systems
« on: September 20, 2017, 09:43:09 am »
Pretty much as per title.  We use Gardiners microbore and it's stretching with the heat.  What's better? Gardiners don't look to be selling anything specifically made for hot any more.

We use varitech's hot water hose.
Had about two years of daily use from it and it's still going strong and never 'blows' off.

I had some red stuff , im sure it was Grippa tank stuff if they make it , im sure it was written all over it , anyway i did not get on with it , heavy as hell and it got really sticky when it was hot , the pump seemed to go on forever when i cut flow off too !
Couldnt tell you what shed its in either !
I went back to standard  streamline microbore after that , i find it copes fine .
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

Can't see it on their website.  Like to see it as anything that stops me blowing off would be a good thing.

The red Grippa was where I was headed. Anyone else with any views on it?

If your talking main hose, im still using tbis one from pure freedom

http://purefreedom.co.uk/product/100m-x-8mm-hi-vis-hose-green/

It says its good with continous water at 60 degrees and so far ive not had any problems with it due to being hot. I work with water thats heated in my tank and is usually anywhere between 62 and 70 which then runs through hose.
Mind you the metal fittings ie rectus fittings get quite hot to touch mind you but apart from  that no stretching issues etc.
Thats been my find so far anyway

I have the 6mm GrippaTank hot hose , been very good so far , had it about a year and handles very similar to standard microbore.

They do 8mm hot hose as well so that could be where the comment about it being heavy comes from .

I'm in hedge end vin if you want to have a look at it before you buy .

You could well be right , i might have had the 8 mm , i did not buy it , i was given it from new as the buyer did not like it , it explains though why my 6 mm barbs seemed too small for the hole  ;D
It was bloody sticky though !

i bought 100m of that red thermobore when i used to use hot water.what a nightmare!far too heavy and cumbersome but it only came in 8mm minibore at the time.£90 down the drain.

i found the standard yellow gardiners microbore great with hot water after they changed suppliers a few years ago.no need for separate "hot water" hose.
price higher/work harder!

Our solution is to use the orange Grippa.

The standard microbore will be staying on the reel till it goes pop but our hot water franchisee will carry the red hose round in his van till it's needed.

Thanks for all the answers, help and offers.
