regret proactively offering 8wkly
« on: August 24, 2017, 03:18:10 pm »
I know we all have different schedules for cleaning and styles etc etc. Lol thats the disclaimer out the way   ;D  ;D

Recently when taking new work I thought i would start adapting to getting them signed up for 8 wkly rather than my usual 4wkly option.
Now ive been cleaning them for a short time  (3 cleans so far) and now im regretting it. Again this is only my personal experience and reasoning.
On my 4 weekly work i do a very good first clean (ie flush vents etc etc) making the subsequent cleans easier and quicker. Yes people say cobwebs etc etc but in my experience this isnt every window, every frame and every house......far from it!!  Like i said i might be lucky where i am as my frames and windows virtually stay clean and when they are not, obviously attention is given to them.  It allows to perfect your technique and work fast.
Not so on 8 weekly cleans!!  Ive not done one house where the frames havent got cobwebs, spider poo etc etc on plus the windows. Obviously i charge more for 8 weekly and i know alot on here have said they do as well, but even then it doesnt warrant offering 8 weekly for the added time,,,,,every time you do them. So for me i have decided to stick to my normal offerings of 4 wkly as for me the service is better as im cleaning virtually clean windows everytime and not waiting for them to start getting dirty or gruby again before i clean them.

Like i said, just my personal take on what ive tried experimenting with and what i personally prefer to do.

Has anyone else found this to be the case if they offer different frequences to normal?

I wish I had just offered 6 weekly from the start and nothing else. 4 weekly seems like I'm there too often and 8 weekly like you say always seem to take too long. Plus when the 8s come around they can make a day too full and not enough work the next time round.

Been thinking about switching the lot to 6 weekly. Don't think the 4s would have a problem but some of the 8s would I think

I'm the opposite the last few months I have encouraged most new customers to go 8 weekly unless they really want 4 weekly I'm happy with that as I'm fully booked anyway and considering putting my son in his own van on the road in the near future, the 8 weekly seemed to look forward to you turning up, I do have a few 2 weekly. Also I charge a bit extra for 8 weekly that more than covers the extra few minutes that may be required Longer cleaning.

as ive got less room for fitting in new work i virtually always offer 8 weekly from the start esp on larger domestic houses(5 and 6 bed houses).im happy with the price i charge too.

most larger posher houses dont want them cleaning 4 weekly esp if charging £40 or £50 per clean
price higher/work harder!

I only do 8 weekly.
It works for me as the custies are always happy to see me (especially as i'm busy and it's gone into 9 weeks  ;D)
But you must price it correctly so the extra time spent cleaning is reflected in the price.
Also you need to pick the properties a little more carefully as large trees, busy roads, etc, will feel like a first clean every time.

lots of times i find 4 weekly windows dirty and full of cobwebs, spider eggs, snail trails, bird muck etc as lots of my work is semi rural.as long as im hitting a high hourly rate consistently im not bothered what frequency the windows are to be honest.
price higher/work harder!

I agree with the latter point,   i clean one particular house every four weeks. On one clean its just the house @£30 and on the next clean its house n conservatory @£50  so thats a win win situation.
I give those types of customers a choice (perhaps i need to put my price up) i have a nice steady job at £30 a month, but gave her the option of 30 every 4wks or 50 at 8weeks, hoping she picked the latter but funny enough she went with 4 weekly. But i do like the ocd types......most would probably pay for 2wkly cleans as well  ;D ;D

The way I look at it is - my round is once a month , once a customer says 'can I change to every other month' then Iv kinda lost them anyway. So I give them a can't be arsed price but still works out cheaper over the year for them.
so on a £12 once a month job ( whether it be a house or terrace ) I say yeah no problem, it'll be £18 every 2 months to cover the extra water & time because obviously they are going to be a lot dirtier than a once a month clean. This still works out cheaper over the year for you compared to a monthly clean. Let me know if that's ok and il change you over in the books.

Yeah , I have a few now that have changed over to every other month. Iv found these are the type of people that look at their yearly outgoings so even though the price goes up , they are making a saving which is a win win situation for both of us.
If they don't go for it , it really doesn't bother me as iv got plenty of work. It's worth a try , you don't want to be doing more work for less profit

I only offer 5, 7 and 9 weekly.
Some think it's odd but if I'm a week late it evens itself out.
