How long can you leave pure water in the tank
« on: August 08, 2017, 06:59:55 pm »
Hi all wasn't sure if there's a max amount off time u can leave you're pure water in the tank for . As I'm starring out soon was thinking off getting a 350 litter tank in my van but won't be using it all within a day as it off course will be very slow to start with . Cheers

More or less mate, should be done by saturday. Cheers.

Only problem with temp is if it gets warm, check the recent thread on leigonella.

Leigonella issues excepted.... I tried this a few years back and after about 18month-ish tried a 5 litre can of water left in the shed.... still 000tds.

If you leave water in your tank this long Leigonella will be the least of your problems  ;D ;D

Cheers Dave.

Daves right, to us water is money!

Besides you'll need plenty of water to practice with.

I would say err on the side of caution

Your tank needs to be secured either strapped or bolted down, should you be unfortunate enough to crash the last thing
you want is it hitting you on the back of the head.
It will also need to be baffled or you will be rocking about like somebody in a Citroen 2CV.

Ok thanks guys new about the baffled tank bit . I'll make sure it's strapped down then . Also is it posible to just have tank to hose to pump to hose reall up wfp ? As was thinking to get a trollie then a back pack now I'm thinking just to with a 350 tank but not sure how you set that all up . I gess if I just call up gardner or pure freedom and tell them I'm new an this is wot I want the should be able to help me out right ? Just don't want them taking the p when I say I'm new that's all . Like telling me I need things that I probably won't need

Dan.... the process is a very simple one..... its just we that like to make it all voodoo complicated  ;)

Make or buy the water
Get it into a tank
hook up a pump/battery to the tank.... outlet from pump to hose connected to your reel
Connect your pole hose via a connector normally rectus 21 or 26 for most people to reel hose
Water up through hose in pole to brush head... now just scruba'dub'dub'
Agitate dirt, rinse off.

I used a freedom trolley for about 2 years, first with 25litre containers then added a 250litre tank, used trolley as the pump/controller... Went to 650 litre tank to 400 then back to 650 now going back to 400litre tank. I think alot of people prefer 500litre tank size... I'm sure they'll chip in and elaborate.

Some people use a pump controller, some don't....horses for courses..... you can make a setup as cheap or expensive as you want but at the end of the day we all just pump water from a tank up a pole and out of a brushhead.... its that simple.

Please forgive if this comes across as condescending, its not meant to be...just trying to say its very simple but I do understand how at first glance it can all look at bit complicated.

if you are able to connect a few hoses, using very basic handtool skills  then thats half the battle.

If  I were you...put a shout out to see  if anyone would be willing to actually show their setup.... you are more than welcome to come here but.... but it'll take you a few hours as I'm near to the Dutch/German border.

tips...if your serious.... skip the backpack route, they are a nice tool but I would hate to use one all day every day, but saying that a few people on here have done so for extended periods.

Get a good pole... I am biased... Gardiners SLX-25 for me all day long... but plenty other poles available.... get a decent lightweight brush-head.

Cheers Dave.

I built my own system armed with some basic info its quite easy once you've seen one.

I dont where you live but if you want to come to north wales for a day l can show you how l done mine and how l clean windows.

If your too far a field then just ask around closer by, thats what l did.

You can learn an awful lot in a day!

Both gardner and purefreedom are very good and will advice accordingly. But as already mentioned and by the youtube vids youve seen, it is very basic indeed.
I bought the 500ltr gpd diy set up from pure freedom but upgraded the poles to carbon.
First have you decided how your producing the water yet or are you going with original idea of purchasing it?
Also checknout the thread about pumps on here, a recent thread as money could be saved there as well.
Dont scrimp on main hose or brushes n poles tho its worth the investment and for that I would recommend gardiner and rectus 21 fittings (these are used to connect your main hose to the pole hose) and perhaps try either a tap valve (seen in my videos n posts on here) or the gardiner quick valve gooseneck or the uni valve as methods of turning the water on at the brush end. These have several benefits but mostly to not waste water and obviously stop the flow which will allow you to clean the upstairs window sills and remove excess water quickening the drip time for you to get downstairs windows cleaned faster.

You'll have to let us know how you get on, perhaps post some pics of your set up

Try harder dan!

Trial and error is a great tool but the fastest way to learn is from others!

I know what you mean though about reading things, its not the same as being seen. Thats why l love videos posted.

Yep we have decided to bye the water in . I'm thinking to get the longest clx I can get for any 2nd or 3rd floor work and a slx 25 for ground and 1st floor work which I'm guessing will be the majority off our work . A 350 tank hooked up the the slx and a gardner back pack hooked up to the clx so we could both work together when required . Defantly will look at getting a cut off for the water . We already have a couple off 25 liter containers to fill the pack pack . One thing I am still concerned  about is if the lwb ford connect will be longer enough to fit the poles in . I've looked at the payload and it's 900 so think it'll be ok with everything I just said .

I reckon keeping your water for a prolonged time can affect your balls. They can shrivel up if they're left floating on top for too long.
And you wouldn't want a bang in your van with shrivelled up balls, would you?
They'd lose their baffling qualities, surely, and I like my balls to baffle.
I like to hear my balls when I'm on the job.
