pw hose burst - repair possible?
« on: July 15, 2017, 08:20:25 am »
hi
my 30m hose has burst about 6" from the end, thes rest of it sems ok visually so if i can save it that would be good. are these crimped on the ends making a home repair impossible?

i've seen this sort of thing in ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JETWASH-PRESSURE-WASH-3-8BSP-REUSABLE-MALE-EMERGENCY-REPAIR-FOR-2SN-2WIRE-HOSE-/262487982722?hash=item3d1d80c282:g:iwEAAMXQCndRgiCs has anyone used one before, and are they a permanent repair.

or anyone got any other suggestions?

Personally wouldn't use anything diy on high pressure stuff - go to any place that sells high pressure hoses (pirtek) and they have the proper equipment to cut and put on a new fitting.

Beware ones a hose bursts in one spot it usually (in my experience) lasts a week, before bursting in another spot

thanks darren, yeah i did wonder about those fittings. if its enough pressure to burst through twin wire hose, you wonder how long those fittinga will last.

It's the crimping that's important otherwise your in danger of it blowing off.

Repairs cost me about £28.00 with all new fittings - never had 3/8 twin go just the  20 meter 5/16 single wire as that's £55 with fitting new I just junk burst hose now

yeah and weirdly it blew undr the protective cuff, so it hadn't worn there from dragging it around.

Unless you can put the break down to something specific i.e. You know you caught it somewhere and  it later split in that area.  Buy new because it will cost you more in downtime messing around with it.
