Univalve dripping ?
« on: July 03, 2017, 07:32:51 pm »
Are these servicable with regard to seals , i am guessing its a throw away job , would pull it apart but as its still doing the job with a leak , i would rather buy another and live with it for now , instead of chancing screwing it right up , anybody else had this issue ?
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

I would suggest you phone Steve at Exceed and ask him for an O Ring. He had video instructions on Youtube and the part on his website, but removed both after a few days.

I have just talked with SAJ about that , but to be fair its not a big issue for me to be honest, i had it from Saj brand new over a year ago and its seen some on off action in that time , im not the type of person to quibble that it has suffered wear and tear , if the o rings are out there to be had then i will get one via Steve , if not i will find one in my usual way ,

Well just had it apart and you are right Spruce , that is no off the shelf O ring , (fair play to Steve)  ;D , they get proper grimey inside, i suppose its all the tiny bits that stick to the couplings that get washed up though the valve , have cleaned and silicone geased it , see how it goes in morning , cheers for your help matey !

TBH they are a great bit of kit even although I still prefer the Aquadapter for its smooth on/off action. I still have one on the 'spare' pole.

My univalve is from the first batch so its given well over a years worth of service.  Its probably not worth repairing the valve at this point  as I understood by the banter when they were first launched that Steve made a minor modification soon afterwards. Son has one of the '2nd' generation on his pole and it seems to work better.

I bought a spare recently (now blue in colour) incase the first ones became faulty but so far so good.

I have to tip my hat to Steve.  When I took mine apart the first thing that flashed up in my mind was the click on click off mechanism of my Parker Jotter ball point pen.

Well that was typical , after the clean and re grease last night , the bloody thing did not drip anything all day !
SAJ did turn up as promised with a new one for me , i still had it off him , i have put the 1st gen one on my big pole now and i assume its a 2nd gen one on my SLX every day horse , (black and red).
Turns out that my 1st gen one was fitted in March 16 , so 16 months 1 service and its still good as new , now that screams good product in anybodys book , WELL DONE STEVE .
