cleaning white sills n frames
« on: June 30, 2017, 11:24:16 am »
Normally when doing a first clean etc, I like to get everything upto my standards so it makes each visit after easier. Hence why I personnally charge more for first cleans.

So its either just hot water going over the frames n sills with good scrubbing and any slightly stubborn stains using a magic sponge. But after a trip to my local BnQ   I picked up a number of cleaning aids, first time in a long time.

So ive just cleaned my first clean today and used this product on frames/sills;

Im totally impressed. Over the many years I have tried various pvc cleaners and considered them a waste of time and never bothered since. But this, im totally impressed and dont know if you guys have already used it and know about it.....but I thought I would share anyway....

So as an example (if you can make it out) this is before

And after:

Yep, I know about the grime in the joint before people start picking at it. This was just a quick example of before and after and before Ive fully finished the cleaning of it all.
Im also taking iy that you guys will recognise the shadow casting on it as well etc

Do you use that stuff by hand?
Personally I don't want to be faffing about with magic sponges and hand polishing frames on first cleans.
I just use chemicals in a backpack, spray the windows, then switch to pure and clean.
I will give the sills a quick wipe with a green scourer and unger rub out but that's it.
Iv got loads of hand polishing upvc creams in the van that just never get used.

Yep by hand. After ive cleaned everything iys a simple case of rub on all (mostly) downstairs frames or conny frames) frames and a quick buff off.
Might be convincing myself but its very quick, perhaps more so than rinsing all chemicals off.
Ive used ubik in past but that takes forever to rinse of properly...

Hg products are good used there mould and limescale remover at home.

Professional Nath :) but I'd be worried customer would want me doing the upstairs  ::)roll

Not going up the ladder, I suppose the only way around that is to say do from inside.

Hopefully customer won't have you indoors ;D
Gets to involved.

Rather say that is upvc restoration I don't do that  :D

There's a difference between window cleaning and upvc restoration.

I use cream cleaner for upvcr

Can't be very quick if you have to get the ladder off.

And in my opinion that should be a premium offering. Say, regular £15, first clean £21 or first clean including frame restoration £75.

Hmm very interesting. I'm new to the job so do people usually use something (either chemicals or bio washing powder etc) when doing a first clean? If so how do most apply it? Dip brush in? Use it with cloth/sponge? Spray it on & scrub/rinse off? Thanks guys

if a first clean is really bad ill spray the windows and frames with virosol in a 5l pressure sprayer before wfp and scrub and rinse thoroughly.normally i just use pure water and take my time if their not too dirty.
