Hi all

Cleaned another black top Chinese restaurant carpet yesterday.



It was a Belgian wilton ( aren't they always ) with some slight pre-existing shrinkage to one side just to put the willies up me.

As you can see it was proper greasy.

I'm sure you all have your own ' heavy duty drop the nuke' cleaning product when faced with a similar job.

I bet most would be surprised I used Chemspec One Earth ( Formerly DFC210 Powder ) As you can see from the MSDS sheet it's not going to kill you or your customer so I wonder why do so many CC's still opt for products that surely damage your health over long repeated use?

I'm not a tree hugger, but when I started out 9 years ago I decided to avoid what appear hazardous to ones health cleaning products.

With all due respect - I wouldn't class the state of the carpets you show as "black tops"

i agree - black top is when you can't see any carpet under it cos its got a hard 'black top'

that being said, the Chemspec stuff is good

dig a little bit more  ,  i believe its just washing soda  .   One of the oldest and most common  detergent ingredients .

A product like this  is like buying organic carrots ,   u paid more but its still just carrot

Many of the detergent ingredients like D-limonene can be made to comply with 'food grade '  regulations

You would need to sure the products u percieve as harmfull are actually harmfull before discarding them as unsafe

Yeah not black top, but nonetheless good job done .

FYI blacktop is the kind of soil saturation build up that goes shiny and which you can see your face in,good enough to shave.

Definitely not black top.... greasy.... and a good job.... but not black top.. true black top looks like its just been tarmac'd

Great job can see you extravted it did you warn about any poss shrinkage and did it? I ended up £650 out of pocket 2 years ago after cleaning a belg wilton when it shrank round edges and couldent be restretched. How did you do it ? Simon
