univalve and push fitting problems
« on: May 29, 2017, 11:06:56 am »
When i pull on hose it has started coming out the push fitting. Changed to new push fitting and same problems. Other pole set up exactly the same with no problems for best part of a year.

Pole is set up as follows

Univalve secured with o clips
Hose leaving univale into push fitting n then onto brush.

Are you using a Gardiners goose neck, or equivalent where you feed the hose through a hole ?
If so put an o clip on the hose where it exits the gooseneck this stops pull on the hose connection to the brush

Where is the problem occuring.  Is it on the hose inbetween where you are pulling and the univalve itself, or on the side between the univalve and the brush?  I used to have a push fitting inbetween where i pulled the hose and the univalve, and this started to become a regular problem every few weeks/months, so i replaced the hose without a push connector in the end.  However, i switched to barb connectors and this almost completely solved the problem, it was much better than standard push fit.  Hope that helps in anyway.

Where hose enters the first push fitting after leaving univalve.

Remove the push fitting and just have hose till past where the hose leaves the pole.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

Do you have your univalve fitted the right way round, i.e the moving part pointing to the base of the pole?

Could be because of the warmer weather. We have used Aquadapter orange hose for years and we had to fit pipe inserts into the hose to stop it collapsing and pulling out of the connectors.
