After many years of using pencil jets in my brush I thought I would like a change and try fan jets, after less than two weeks use I  caught the plastic fan that sits in the bristles on the side of a window and it broke.  Was I unlucky or are these type of jets prone to breaking so quick.  Gardiners say they are not covered by warranty as I broke it?

We use them & think they're great.

You've gotta be a bit more careful around door handles & juliet balconies as being plastic they are not as tough as brass pencil jets.

We switch to an extreme brush with pencils for juliets.

I have stopped using fan jets due to the many blockages and the frustration it makes. Use them since they came to the market. But found when Vision came on the seen which made this a lot worse. So no more for me. They do save water but I want more water on the glass as this does reduce comebacks and does save time on rinseing.

I can see how they could be broken easily in certain situations and also block more easily than pencils but I've used them for a couple of years now and haven't broken one yet. I have had a couple of blockages so now I keep a spare brush on board so I don't waste time trying to clear it at work. I just swap out the brush and clear the blockage when I get home.
I love using them. I find for the majority of my work I get a much better rinse with them than with pencils and I can work faster as a result. It's probably a case of 'horse for courses' as the saying goes.

I only use fan jets

I be found using the exceeed quick release system not had a blockage over a year now, I always carry set long pins just in case

As to the fan jets I always countersink them into the brush head I use a 11ml wood drill that's cuts a hole and snip a small section  of the stem on back of the Fan jet off,

This way they don't knock or touch anything, there's no more issues then

I only use an extreme been telling Alex there  brush heads should all come with counter sunk hole for fan jets for years now

Go back to pencils and stop worrying about rinsing as it makes little or no difference to the clean, put enough water on the
glass during the scrub and there will be nothing left on it to rinse.

Most of mine broke but can been superglued back in. lol

I found them utterly useless. Even a simple thing like having a pivoting brush head and the jet hose twisting would cause the fans to snap

Why the need to countersink? How hard are you guys scrubbing? Let the bristles do the work.

As for blockages - do you not have an inline pump pre-filter? Never had a blockage.

Simon the bits of debris come from when you connect the hose to pole hose debris is picked up sometimes it's on the floor so it picks up stuff

When using the extreme brushes fan jets protrude to much and can run risk damaging a frame due to less amount bristles

so I won't take the risk and don't wish to use heavier brushes

A slight counter sunk would be an advantage, but never had an issue. Used them for 3 years. Nothing else now. Tried different makes, but Gardiner is the better pattern. They are cheap as chips. Had a few faulty ones. Snapped quite a few. but from the pipe end.

We've never had a problem with blockages from debris from connecting. We use rectus 21/ ez snap. Male end on the pole hose. Protecta balls on both male & female (bought cheap on ebay & drilled myself). We don't tend to drag pole hose after disconnecting. Obviously it could get dropped in grit etc.

We only use an extreme brush on Super Max 50 so not as much weight behind the pole to scrub at height I guess. Super Lites for almost all other windows. I get what you're saying about the countersink but I'd be totally confident Alex has tried & tested it before selling them. Never scratched to my knowledge & I think that's why Gardiner's fan jets are plastic. Like I said you just have to be a bit more careful with them around handles & juliets. If not, go back to pencil jets or maybe try a stiffer extreme that won't collapse as much on the glass.

thats why I use fan jets. Pump on full, its like a river

i dont mean flow rate  as u get lots of rince but  more working on old windows were the rubbers drip after and leve runs ! i find them fine on new easy windows were you just scrub and rince the lot , but on old glass its not that simple  , maby rincing on the glass works beta with fans?

Water that drips off seals after you clean isn't because you use fan jets, it's because you use water.

If you know which windows have problematic seals, clean all the top part
 of the window (ie where the seals are) and then move onto a different window. Allowing a little drip time and then come back and clean the window, but avoid the top seal.
Its about adjusting your technique not blaming fan or pencil jets for the problem.
