Trev.  A Christmas party is a great idea but when you think of it its going to contain a lot of problems getting people togeather at that time of year.

Since making my last post I have had time to think and I reckon the idea could be modified to better advantage.

In America they are big on their Conventions which are only really an excuse for a trade show and a big get togeather and pi55 up.

Therefore, could I suggest that the best time to arrange it would be to co-incide with Windex next year. That way we could arrange some reasonable accomodation near the Exhibition Centre( a good time in advance to get a good deal.)
We could all go to the show, then meet up for a meal and and a drink in the evening.

Since a lot of us will be going to the show anyway that seems the obvious place and time to get togeather.

What do you think? Not a Christmas party but a Cleanitup Convention.

Hi Vince,

Valid point and definately one to consider.

The main reason for a xmas party was picking up on earlier posts asking what people were doing.

I was thinking along the lines of a get together with a sponsor or two offering products we could raffle towards a charity.

I think I we opt for a windex time then we definately wont get a sponsor.

Why don't we be greedy and have both?

The purpose of this poll is to see what everyone thinks.

Once we have collated the information then it is something to look at then and we can see if there is enough interest.

Maybe we should run another poll for windex or christmas and see what the response is?

Best wishes,

Sounds like a laugh.
Will follow this thread with interest.
One small question...
Does the wife have to come???
Got an idea to get cheaper digs.  Strike a deal with hotel owners.  A free window clean for free/ cheap rooms.  If enough of us turn up we'll have them done by breakfast, 1 window each.
Just a thought.
Veni, vidi, vino, splatus.

 (I came, I saw, I drank, I fell over...)

I think the best time for arranging meet ups is at the shows  i think next years show is in Birmingham at the NEC

when i went to windex met up with some of the members from the forum and they had booked in a hotel for a couple of nights so i think thats what ill do at the next show.

if there's a xmas party near to me id be willing to go 8)

TVCS better do the windows before we start drinking.

Trevor    Actually, whether or not we decide to have a get togeather at Windex it would be worth our while compiling a list of reasonable places to stay if you are attending the show. The reason I say this is because on the blurb sent out by the Exhibition Centre they only give you the really expensive ones.
Since it looks like the show is going to be at EXcel for the time being we might as well get organised.

As a Londoner, ( and a London blackcab taxi driver ) I nominate myself as the best person to do this.

What do you think?

Honestly chaps, I hope you all have a good time if you gat something going, if it had been a different ocasion I would of been up for it. I'm sure Macc would of brought me a drink :)

Off coarse i would Archy.

Im sorry if i have offended any JW`s. I still know a few now & they are good hard working & honest. I should have kept away from the subject as i have seen & heard things that go against what i know is right. Prob some of you on here are JWs who would never do or say what i have seen or herd. Like any group there is always the small group that bring the rest down. SORRY.

Let me start again. If we do meet up i would rather get to know you as a person & not know about religous beliefs.

That would be a great idea Vince.

Any information that will help the members is always good. I am a Londoner myself and have known some of my friends pay stupid money to stay in areas that I know I could have stayed at for a fraction of their price.

best wishes,

i d be up for a christmas party , anywhere in the south
or midlands, however from previous experience about the organisation of christmass partys someone needs to take charge and nominate a date and location others will follow with replys or better ideas.
Iam not saying i can do it, its just an observation of human  nature.
Thats my gobbing off done with!

Totally agree and when I have all the information to hand with this poll I will be looking into what we can arrange and I will put forward a proposal.

Just not going to spend time sorting out all the info etc.. if only 3 or 4 want to do it.

Fair point Gazza, its the offer that counts.

Maybe nearer the time we could look for cheap accomodation.

Now, back to the Christmas Party, those who are still yet to post, PLEASE DO !!

Many thanks, Trev

Actually it doesn't make a lot of difference if they do hold next windex at NEC.
A bit of forward planning is whats required, the location is immaterial.
NEC is much more central and frankly Excel is an awful place to get to.

If you are interested in joining in the function please fill in the poll.

I spoke to a major supplier yesterday and they are potentially interested in sponsoring an auction for charity, again depending on numbers.

I also spoke to a local newspaper, just to get a general feel and they said if it was near them they would run an article (based on an auction for charity), thought we could cascade this to all our local newspapers and all benefit from some free advertising.

Anyway, just keeping you informed.

Keep posting,

Papers like to talk about anything regarding charities and I am hoping that if we do go ahead with the party and have an auction/raffle to rasie money for charity each local newspaper will run an editorial.

That way we can include the local window cleaners names as part of the editorial.

Still early days but worth a thought.

I am considering organising a Christmas Party for the members

This is just to get an idea what people are prepared to do. I am not saying it is definate but if the numbers hold up then I will speak to the other moderators and see what the interest is?

Please answer based on the party would be a dinner / dance venue in a hotel with accomodaion either provided or arranged individually.

Thanks

Trev

Will be nice to see you there.

Have lost Santa's phone number so not sure if I can get him to turn up.

Will try my best.

And before anyone offers, I am sure the girls don't need any of us to dress up so they can sit on our knee.

BEHAVE !!

At the moment I am jsut waiting for the poll to finish to see who is prepared to travel and then once I know I will look at a location.

Judging by the members addressess I think a central location, maybe Oxford or a bit further West,

Will close the poll at the end of this month then I will post 4 venues to choose from.

We will get there  ;)

Yes the further West the better.

Cant you make it in St Ives Then you all could stay for a few days.

It is one of the best places on the planet to spend new year or any time of the year to be honest
