I have some good Asian customers, unfortunately in my experience they are in the minority. For one reason or another I would say my drop off rate is about 50% with them, although it is me who usually bins them.

I always charge OPP's less. Its respect. They usually force a tip on me.

I always charge OPP's less. Its respect. They usually force a tip on me.

I do a load of assistance living flats. Average age are between 75 and 100. All great payers, always happy to see me, and I get plenty of biccies

I love the way the Oldies like to look out for each other, often paying each other bills when neighbours aren't home.  I once used to do a block of about 30 flats reserved for the older ones by the local council and never had to go back for any money as they all used to pay for each other. Sadly, don't see too much of this now.

yep i still clean around 30 granny flats in one block.great payers and lovely people.

I went to quote a large detached house with an extension and a conservatory, I told her £20 once a month , she was delighted.
Just had a phone call from her saying her husband said it's too much and is there any movement on the price  Or could I do it every other month.
I said no movement and every other month is a different price. She said she was fine with the price but her husband said he was a time served plumber and wouldn't dream of charging such prices 😲🙄
She said she would have a word with him and get back to me -
I don't think this job will last long if I get it!

Ive been communicating with his wife and firstly he wasnt quite expecting me, which i took as a bad sign. But anyway, told him the price and was happy enough for me to do the work and even made a great coffee. His wive is a barista and so they have a grands worth of machine to make a coffee. Very nice.
Any way this chap is a long time plumber and all i hear is about the different jobs and if its a quick job they dont charge the usual high price bla bla etc etc. But think he was hinting and so i got talking about  my equipment and water costs and purification cost n time and how much this specialised equipment costs. How others feel its a quick job, "obviously not you sir" but they dont realise what goes off to make this part go quick. But that doeant mean its not a higher quality job. Lol even mentioned his wives coffee machine!
Lol, that or my waffle got him to drop the subject and pay up. Will see how the next clean turns out.

What "specialized equipment costs" ? Wfp set up is peanuts!

How do you justify your prices Peavey if need be?
Lets face it we charge a pretty penny to wet someones windows dont we. Where i am, our local garage mechanics charge £40 an hour labour. Domestic house cleaners charge between £10 and £20 an hour and these types of work really graft.
We stand and shake a stick at a window, wet it and walk off and charge perhaps £20 upwards per 20 minutes.

But lets face it; some scrims, mop n blade, a bucket and a pair of ladders and your away earning money. Wfp is a little more expensive in comparison isnt it.

In my experience (carpet cleaning) If they ask for a discount I tell them thats fine, I can do the job for you at £70 rather than £100, just to let you know you need to pre-vacuum and you we will not be using our rotary machine on the carpet, we just spray the chemical and extract, some of them think they made a massive saving but the quality is not the same. You get what you pay for !

I'm a clairsentient and feel vibes from new customers houses and also the customer when I first meet them. The "right to a discount" brigade usually are very manipulative and controlling by nature. They try to control you subliminally and influence your mental processes or behaviour by dropping information into the conversation which is targeted to work below the surface of your conscious mind and make you quote a lower price for work.   One of the gems which always makes me cautious is "I usually clean it myself with my Karcher" They go on to say how they enjoy it and find it very stimulating; so now, cleaning their driveway has become a pleasure for you to do and you should really be paying them for the privilege.

I suppose it would depend on what you call peanuts but on the whole most would say its not that expensive to set up and run a wfp
system, a quality power washer would cost more.

I quoted a house the other day when canvassing. Large detached house with a big conservatory & a separate detached outbuilding. I quoted £55 which I think is a reasonable price for the amount of work. Got an email from her husband asking if I could do it for £45. 

Now I am after work so don't really want to say no but at the same time if I accept £10 less does that not seem I was ripping him off initially?
