advice on pw build project
« on: May 01, 2017, 09:53:01 pm »
I started with a wolf 200bar pressure washer and upgraded the hose, lance and bought turbo nozzel n fsc.
However i soon realised that what i thought was too good to be true is just that!! It was 200bar at 8lpm down to tap pressure, when i had full tap pressure the machine was great for small / medium drives etc. But not long i had replaced the pump 3 times as water leaked in and the company doesnt do repairs just sends out a new pump which says it all really.
So at the moment i hire a 15ltr 150bar machine but use my equipment on it.

Would love a new system esp one from Bens, but ive just had family car wrote off by a bad driver n waiting on insurance company etc etc and sadly other financial commitments (joys of a large family)...
However excuses out the way im thinking of giving myself a project to build one up. (That way i get to learn more about them, for when they go wrong)
I would like to have min 170 -200 bar machine and min 15ltr intrim pump working on it. Im currently looking at engines and already getting confused  ::)roll
As a base idea im looking at honda 390gx engines but also other engines. What cc size engines or HP size engines would that equate to please?? To get the my desired bar pump fitted to.

Thanks upfront for any advice or pointers as i take a steep learning curve

Get a Hond GX390 21 lpm on a two year interest free credit card, and at least 500 ltr tank abd 60 - m fixed hose reel.
Guard well within yourself that treasure, kindness. Know how to give without hesitation, how to lose without regret, how to acquire without meanness.

Unless you are going to use second  hand parts it won't be much cheaper to build your own.

For The size of machine you are aiming for I would use a diesel 10hp single cylinder engine and an 200bar/15lt pump

Ur best bet is to ring Ben, he knows his stuff.

After a good chat and a few emails and advise off Chris I bought my machine  Honda gx390 21 lpm 250 bar, also bought 130m of hp hose, and lances,  done a few jobs and had my money back.
Bought fsc off him and would very much recommend him to anyone who's thinking of buying equipment

Just a quick heads up chaps If you are planning or run a petrol washer from inside a van. DO NOT  try to put petrol in a pressure washer petrol tank when the washer is still hot. One chap on bookfarce pages posted a pic of one of his vans totally destroyed burnt out on some ones drive.  All because his worker tried to put petrol in the washer but did not let it cool down first . The chap was very lucky he did not get killed.

Don't think the customer was that impressed either. lol

Im thinking at the mo to disconnect my existing motor and pump etc and keep the frame work.
Looking at either the honda 390gx engines or cobra or even lincin 390 engines and then buying the relevant intrim pump to match the machine. Ideally 15ltr upto 200 bar for the type of work im.doing at moment. I have 20m of hose, lance and a fsc which all has been fine on the jobs ive been doing. Ive just had a rubbish engine n pump.

First question would be will a 13hp engine, gearbox driven interpump fit the old wolf 200 frame http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wolf-200-BAR-3000psi-6-5HP-Petrol-Driven-Power-Pressuer-Jet-Washer-Solid-Frame-/152525411832 as they are not exactly small? http://www.dualpumps.co.uk/products/RTT-D205__Delta_RTT_15250_Petrol_Pressure_Washer

If you look at both links  the answer is obviously not.
