price increase continued
« on: April 30, 2017, 01:14:46 pm »
So ive mentioned time n again how ive had bad prices for some years and its only recent that im addressing things with a business head myself.
This is a classic example of my mistake.
A small house with a small bay window downstairs and 2 windows upstairs i charged 2.50 and have done for too many years and so ive doubled price to a fiver, which is still less compared to new clients. But if you let clients get away with a low price, this will happen.....

See it from her point of view it's not her fault you haven't increased the prices for 10 years.

If I was me I would question it as well.

Well done Nathan , I wouldn't question it at all. £2.50 is ridiculously low , better off without them no matter how easy the job is.

You might want to be careful Nathan on putting customers text messages on a public forum without editing the personal stuff.

Really!!!  You would question having a price stay the same for ten years and when it goes up by 2.50 you would question it and call it unfair.
Really, question a 2.50 increase.

Watched britain got talent last night, well funny. This chap from africa was taking the mickie of us Brits moaning of a recession etc and britain being in trouble. He said he doesnt see any concerts to help the UK or planes flying over head dropping food from planes.......he was so funny and SO right.
Get a grip man,,,,,moaning at a first price increase of the bank cripling 2.50

To be honest you have to question more not putting it up for 10 years.

True!! But if people read the begining post they will see that i have openly admitted to having bad prices in the past and not addressing them. Highlighting this particular case as a classic example.
But also as i was happy with the collective amount from the round i didnt address individual prices, which also highlights a problem.  Both these points i have highlighted when ive mentioned about pricing jobs up on other threads, highlighting how in last 2 yrs ive turned a steep curve, hence when i post about having confidence and trust in your ability or about having a business head rather than a customers head........i speak from experience of bith sides.
But i guess, most donas well

That's fair enough - lesson learned. If you'd put them up by 50 every 2 years it would now be £5. In any case, who actually wants customers like that?

Which begs the question as to why YOU are having a meltdown over £2.50? YOU are responsible for conditioning the customer to YOUR long standing prices. My advice- be happy that you're rid of that one! ;)

£2.80 for a latte down here some people just make me smile, they know when they are getting something for nothing it's not the increase it's that they are no longer getting something for nothing so it's onto the next mug that'll give em the same.

At the end of the day Nathan it's a 100% increase and that's just hard to stomach.

If you went to a coffee shop one week and paid £2.50 like you had for years, knowingly that the coffee was good, and very cheap. And they said to you oh by the way it's now going to be £5 for the same you would feel annoyed as you know that it has been costing you £2.50 for ages and ages and now you have to find another £2.50 that you probably had marked for something else like a paper and perhaps a bun. Now that £5 is more like 7or 8 pounds to get the same thing.

Just because someone has a large house, a nice car etc etc it doesn't mean they have expendible income all of a sudden....some people budget right down to the penny they don't waste their money....that's how they get wealthy.

Now i am perplexed; that this £2.50 that
allegedly you are not all that bothered about anyway...You have gone to great effort to write about it on a public forum, with her details plastered all over it.

Honestly Nathan you are the one to blame not her. And if i found out that my ex window cleaner had put up on a public forum how he wasn't all that bothered about MY custom that i have given HIM for nearly a decade i would be spitting feathers.

You need to wind in your neck Nathan. Seriously...

It's a 100% increase. When she rings round for quotes she will probably get quotes higher, the same and maybe cheaper.

However it's my opinion she was right to question it. I think a lot of people forget that on here, we're all entitled to one.

Customers have every right to question why they are being asked to pay more, even if they have been paying the same for years.

When it comes down to it, we run our businesses to suit ourselves, so, although we all have our own opinions, all that matters is that we are happy, and if we aren't, then we change things until we are.

Think your missing the point why i started this thread.
1. By saying im not fussed about loosing 2.50, (which, who would be) its highlighting that its not a big deal in the long term of things.

2.    The thread was about not leaving cheap prices unattended  for a good length of time, as the end result is regardless of the amount or percentage you put it up by, you will have some customers who will not be happy regardless.    As in this case, if i increased by a quid would she be happy?? Then if 6mnths later i reviewed it and increased by a quid again.....two increases within a year would finish the customer off.

Nathan if I were you I would have just pulled out your old chestnut " well you know what Mrs, I clean the village hall for 1 million rupees so I have to charge you accordingly!  and besides, my minimum charge for  clientele ( formerly known as customers before I tried to make myself sound more professional ) is ten of your English finest🤣
