Anyone recommend an ideal dash cam for our industry.

I already have one but want more from it.

Looking for one that auto records when van is not in use.  e.g. records when picks up movement.

Also I have seen many that don't charge whilst plugged into van or whilst recording.  Again I want one that charges all the while so it does not fail whilst van is parked up.

Any suggestions or experiences?

DD Pai M6 Plus with a hard wire kit gets very favourable reviews. MIni version is good too.

Most have on/off switch aswell so can be used when parked up.  Downside they will only stay on until the internal battery goes flat.

There is a kit with a high capacity li-on battery that sits between the hardwire kit and the dash cam. It's charged via the car battery and should be good for 3 or 4 days.

Is it just me that finds wierd that dash cams don't come fitted with a battery capable of working in park mode and charges whilst in vehicle is in use? Say navs do it. Phones do it. Go pros do it. .hmmmm

Most of the high end cameras don't come fitted with batteries at all, they are instead driven by capacitors. The reason is that li-ion batteries don't respond well to extreme heat - like the sort that you get if you leave anything in direct sunlight under glass...
The capacitors provide enough power for a few minutes but then need to plugged in and recharged.

I got mine from amazon. £99.  I also went for the cellink b battery pack from eBay. I put in an offer and got it for £150. Expensive but worth it for the parking mode.

Have to say the picture quality is fab.

The other thing I like about it is its size. Nice and small and compact. You don't want anything too big if using it in parking mode that sticks out like a sore thumb.  This is because there is no lcd screen built into the camera.

Not for everyone but works with your mobile phone to view and set up.  There is also a wifi button that you stick on your dashboard. Nice touch as if you press it the camera takes a snap shot and a 10 second video sending it to your mobile ready for sharing on social media. ( bird watching    )

I have a blackvue fitted in my van, it does everything you want and stuff you wouldn't think of. It has a sensor  that monitor the state of the van battery and turns its self off if it detects the battery power is low, it automatically uploads to a cloud when it detect a known wifi hotspot, I'm now sat eating breakfast in a premier Inn I can look on my iPad and see the live image it is now recording. If it was in a work van I could  monitor my workers movements and follow on google maps the exact route it took.

Like most good dash cams it record in HD but the quality is superb.

It cost £400 fitted.
