Interesting, thanks Marc.

As for self-cleaning glass and virisol. Last year I used Virisol on a self cleaning glass conservatory roof. It completely buggered the glass, made it look frosted/misty. If I was the owner and left it like that I'd would've been suing me.

Anyway, the owner phoned the manufacturer and the solution is to spray descaler on. It worked a treat and restored the glass back to its original condition.
Good to know, cheers for updating.

Well tried it today

What can I say, Amazing

I really spend out because we're down south and bought a £6 bio liquid says 40 washes

And put 1/4 in back pack

Low setting sprayed on roof left 5 mins? Then high flow at 60 just brushed and rinsed took good rinsing but there was no effort in the scrub needed

This was a very dirty black roof allocated 2.5 hours

Done with ease in just over 1 hours, so an additiiaonl cost 75 Pence a roof to take off over half the clean time for the same  initial charge

So Marc A  very large thank you

I think it will be used on soffits and fascia in future

Just make sure you rinse the stuff off REALLY well!
I cleaned my own windows with bio powder, sprayed them up first, scrubbed then rinsed as normal.
2 hours later the sun came out and they looked terrible :o
White chalky streaks everywhere.
Im thinking maybe the liquid would be better suited on glass surfaces, powder for fascias.

Today i used it for first time and thought i'ld try on a fascia, gutter n soffit clean.
Yep it works well.......but......the drive was a printed concrete drive and the property had lovely black painted iron gates. Once i had finished applying to the front i went to the joining neighbours to clean theirs. Thankfully they wasnt bad and so just used hot water from my tank and they came up lovely. Went back to rinse the soap off and the drive was covered with white dried soap residue along with the gate and the bins. They had no outside tap so i couldnt blast with water to rinse other than use my cloths n wfp. It took me forever to do....the gutters etc looked lovely but it added a whole lot of time to the job.
The rear of the property i stuck to ubik and hot water and it took no time to clean.

I think i will use it on conny roofs as all the soap n rinse will go down the gutters etc but dont think its a good idea on fascias etc

First pole I ever used was the old Tuckers and I used the soap dispenser for doing new cleans as it brought the plastic up lovely but had to thoroughly rinse all the detergent off. Easy way to tell iff all the soap is off is when they stop bubbling up when the water is suppose to be cascading down in a nice smooth sheeting effect  :)

Perhaps you used a little too much Nathan.

I think your dilution might be slightly off mate, been using Virosol on self cleaning glass for years, not a problem? Never tried it neat or in high concentrations, but I reckon that could be the problem.

What dilution rate did you use?
I pre mix in a 25 litre barrel with 1 litre of no nonsense, works great.
Wet surface first, spray up with no nonsense, leave a few mins then scrub.

Are you all adding the powder to a sprayer and applying it before cleaning or if it's liquid putting it in the same, what dilution you using.

If I'm honest I don't believe bio washing powder is any better or worse that other chemicals you can use, we are taking about taking dirt off an impervious(sp)  surface.  We need wetting agents to break  surface tension, a chemical  to hold the dirt in suspension so it can be rinsed Away  and something To stop rapid evaporation.

Washing powder has most of  these things (its what it does to our  clothes in the machine) so will have a cleaning effect on UPVC & polycarbon sheets but I cannot see what else it has that makes it better.   bio washing also contains specific enzymes to break down fat, proteins  & sugars ,     will this help to clean what we use it on? ..... I'm not totally Convinced

Well been waiting to try my Bio washing liquid on a 1st clean since this tread was posted and yesterday I did, the truth is results were first class, the frames came up gleaming and I would say the effort was about halved, I only did a bungalow and a modest semi but both had been a long time since a windie had last seen them. I was very pleased, just wet the window and frame squirted some directly onto the brush and aggitated in, did not get a dramatic amount of foam but was using cold water (apparently it suds up more with warm), did all like that, then just treated as a maintanance clean, results perfect!!! :D
I did go for the best (Persil Bio), but it was only £3-25 from Super savers, ill definatly be using again on first cleans or scuffy UPVC frames.

Anyone still using this method? I have some fiberglass roofing and stone flags to clean- light to medium soiled. Don't really want to power wash as it's on a balcony/terrace thing.

Here you go.

This is the sort of result I get with Bio washing powder.

1st pic is the detergent digesting the muck

2nd pic is before and after

3rd pic is more muck digesting

Looks good but I dont see that it is any better than virosol or any branded cleaner I did try it after you posted about this before we found it slow to apply compared with backpack sprayer and  virosol and the finished results were no better we did half the property with the bio and half with virosol , the bio was a lot slower to use and more  scrubbing required to remove the stickey residues, so now use the virosol

Marc i cleaned a con roof today with tesco own brand bio washing powder, very very good indeed.
I poured some into the top filter in a Gardiner's backpack, mixed with pure and sprayed all over the roof. Left it for 5 mins then scrubbed on a low flow before rinsing off with a high flow.
Is it better then screwfix, virasol, ubik etc...?
Yes!
Amazing results, it really 'eats' the dirt effectively.
Also you don't get bleeding from black seals like you nearly always do with the others.

This will be my go to now for fsg and con roofs. Screwfix will be good in a spray bottle as a quick spot on treatment for dirty windows.

Yes but it dries with white streaks unless you scrub like mad and use tons of water to get rid of it lots of stickey residue too virosol is so much easier to use and quicker although it is dearer but at 10-1 mix you don’t need a lot
