Expected return on adwords
« on: March 29, 2017, 03:13:04 pm »
Just wondered what you would class as an acceptable return on Adwords spend?
I'm paying for management aswell, I'd be interested to know what return your all getting and if you pay for management or do your own.

Hi Steven I have downsized my ad words for several reasons. One of which was quality of enquiry the other being getting quotes all over the place.
I haven't tracked it for a while but I was getting £3.78 back on every pound spent. Years ago in another business it was nearer £10.
The problem is I don't trust anyone to run them for me and I haven't the time or ability to do them myself. I have gone down a different route still do some but very targeted.

I spend around £2 per job (for oven cleaning though which is a bit cheaper than carpets by all accounts) and my average job is £65. I also pay £15 per month for management which is not factored into the £2 per job. My region is quite cheap as well....if you're anywhere near London, expect to fork out a small fortune....

Which company do u use for management? Is it just a local one? I'm in the process of starting up and have no idea about ad words, so want someone to take control for me. Thanks

The return you get will vary massively depending on how your website converts, and yourself, pricing etc. as well as what campaigns your running, competition, how well it's set up/managed etc

Adwords can get people to your site...what happens after that is down to other factors.

You need to look at the bigger picture. Adwords job is to get people to your site (or a call if using a call only campaign)  Your website then needs to convert into a phone call...then you need to convert the call into a sale...and don't forget about about lifetime value of that customer and even referrals.

One thing you should look at is in the adwords ui there is a thing call insights it gives you a overview on how your doing compares to everyone else using adwords.

Good luck

This is the most important part! Its a cost to acquire a customer if you look at it from the point of view that it costs you £2 for a click and you get £20 its a 1:10 return. However if you know your conversion rate of leads/sales, average room price, average customer value  you can make much better calculations.
