I'm in the "Rarely checks his TDS and then gets a shock and changes it at around 15 to 20, but never gets a complaint, so doesn't fret about it" club.

There's nothing wrong with keeping your tds at 000 as long as you understand you don't need to.

Never mind...

It's 002 in my van at the moment...

When the water going into my holding tank reaches 004 then I change the resin.

Never have any problems.

Andy :)

If you use a double DI system there is absolutely nothing to gain from letting it run past 0

No not a member no need to be. Simply put there is a certain point were the water will not spot nobody really knows the exact tds it's all just trial and error. If we was to be really picky you could say 0ppm my not be the point as your tds meter can't read any purer then 0ppm your water could actually be 9999ppb or wharever when your tds says 0ppm  ;D
When wfp  first started we were told that 0ppm was what it has to be and if it went higher then that you had to call in a nucular clean up team to clean your tank out but we know now it's complete rubbish  ;D
Having said that of course it's good practice to keep it as low as possible but not necessary

000 always

I've friend he uses an old merlin comes out and about 009-015 his never used resin in his life

But I prefer 000 as we sell it as well to others they expect it at that quality so I've now excuse should always be that

I started w f p 17 years ago and for ten years I would only let it go to 001 then change resin ,one day I went to check tds and for some reason it had shot up to 012 so I started panicking checked a lot of my customers windows and couldn't believe there was no spotting at all so did a lot of experiment s and I will go up to 018 never had a problem

You can still get spotting with 000.
Technique (or being arsed to scrub top frame and rinse properly) is probably more important than tds innit.

Today's resins are so crap that I can't get zero anyway, so I'm not changing resin every two weeks just to read zero.

Tulsion resin seems to be the best for me. Anyone remember Rohm & Haas that was good resin.
