So many diffent tank sizes on here . What size tank do you use for a days work one man band window cleaning only?
I use a 350ltr tank for  a days work,  water  control, uni valve pump maxed out  no vari stream just pressure switch . Makes me a good days money.

I think 350ltrs erns a good days money for one man if priced well. Hows your van going daz ? Are you using hot water ?  I made this thread as i see so many newbies get either carried away and get to much a big tank or something to small. Nice to contribute and help others on here .

One man operator 500-650 is fine , 2 operaters 1000 , does also depend on the type of work you are doing commercial work in one place for long time will require more water than domestic stop start work

I helped a friend who converted to wfp and used a 350l upright tank. He used it for upstairs whilst i bladed downstairs. Most times he would nearly empty tank. We were cleaning largish houses though. So when i converted and planned to use it for downstairs as well, i figured a larger tank would be needed. I would rather have too much, rather than worrying about conserving water incase i may run dry. Therefore i opted for a 500l tank. Ive only ran dry twice in nearly 2 years. But i would say on average i use between 350 and 400l per day.

I'd say 500ltr tank for a full days work , it's better to have a bit too much water than running out and having to go back and fill up with a 350ltr

Short version.

500L - if your van has a payload of 800kg plus (750kg plus at a stretch if you don't carry extra stuff.)


Long version.

I used a 400 in my 1.3 Doblo (56 plate) (payload 736kg) quite happily for 6 years as a 1 man band  but if I knew I had a long day I would put a couple of 25L barrels in the back. Dan the man still uses this set up now.

I even added a 200L trailer tank as I was building up the round to take Dan the Man on board.

vans great and its sign written now mate.looks very smart and professional.just in time for spring/summer.

im not bothering with hot water anymore mate.had a gas leak the other week and a loud bang and flash!i took the heater out and took the gas bottle back.its not worth potentially setting your van on fire!

on topic if your  a sole trader (mainly domestic)  WFP window cleaner id say a 500L tank is the ideal size as it leaves you with that bit extra for longer days/add on jobs,etc.i used to have a 350L years ago and i used to run out some days.

I have 650 ltr which I don't fill every day.
I use about 500 on a decent day
I fill it for a school I have and use it all
It's useful to have the extra capacity
I could manage with 500 but I would be careful with my water
I use a univalve with no controller

ive got a 500l tank some days i could do with more  most days i use about 350l/400l  but i spend 10 hours a week trading shop fronts

ive got a 650 and when filling it probably cuts off about 600ish as its never full but i use roughly about 4-450 litres a day, funnily enough since i turned my flow rate up im using less and getting through work quicker.
my old van i had a 400 and used to run close to empty by end of day and doing con,gutter cleans i was always tough and go, its nice now knowing i can run higher and use more water without the  worry of running out anymore.
if somone was buying a tank for 1 man though i'd suggest they get a 500 for a perfect balance.

£1 a liter I reckon on the correct flow rate you've got £350 worth of work in the back then lol 😂,might seem daft but it does seem to work out like that tbh.

I wish that was the case on commercial .......

I can empty a 650L tank in about 4 hrs with pump running non stop, if doing a big job, I will be filling as am working and if still needing more water would then have to run the van engine, which in return gives u a lot more water at the brush but not always viable to leave engine running unless on private secured land

650 aday min  on the one man set ups we have , and 1100 aday on the two man set ups

Lol i managed on 250 litres back in 2004, low flowrate and longer times to clean. Now i prefer higher flow, 500 litres seem to give best results vs time spent.

It does work out like that for me almost everytime,I literally don't need  to look my tank gauge to know how much water I have left I can almost always work it out by adding up what I've earnt that day thus far.

I would say it's good to be a southern window cleaner on occasions

So in reality  we only need a 350 litre for one man 400 tops

Me and my daughter have 500 litres, only very occasionaly we empty it
