Fecking finials
« on: March 07, 2017, 06:48:22 pm »
Knocked another one off whilst doing a conny roof today, dodgy job glueing it back on,  any bird that lands on it is going to get a shock. stuck it back on with mastic.

I broke a gutter yesterday at top of roof height on the eaves. I've had to get someone to look to quote it as it needs a triple ladder.

Nothing worse than a cock-up that you can't sort out yourself is there as makes you look like a right chump. That's why I prefer to carry as set of triples about as has happened to me more than I care to remember.  Mind if the cock-up should ever happen on 3 storey jobs and above I would defo get someone else to sort it out and take the hit. lol

I hired a set from Jewson to do a job only about £15 for the day

Hire a cherry picker if it's that high?

Probably be cheaper than getting someone to do it, do it on a weekend so you don't lose a days work?
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

Needs a triple set of ladders. Someone's doing it for me for £180.

When you say you broke it what did you actually do?
Got any pics?

Snapped a piece of guttering. It's imperial and apparently not available any more? So the length (only 3 metres) needs replacing.

To be honest, other than a couple of broken ornaments it's my first cock up.

There is still time yet. lol
It was a good job that my insurance (gleaming) dealt with the claim and paid out. All I had to pay was 200 excess so all I can say it's a no-brainer to have decent cover.

Agreed. In particular that covers the property you are working on.

I broke some rooftiles a couple of months ago walking on a new customers extention. Immediately i told them i had broken thier tiles, and to send the repair bill to me. I put it in writing admitting liability, and it cost me 390 quid, i paid immediately in full into their account and its gone down really well, still have them as cuatomers, so in 3 years ill be broken even on this client. Lol

I knocked a finial off once. Stuck it back on with chewing gum.

Was cleaning  an old conservatory roof and put some extra vent holes in it by mistake. Oops!
Turned out due to that type of panel not being manufactured anymore it had to have a complete new roof fitted. Needless to say the customer was over the moon. lol
