I know this is a stupid question as you just stick a hose in and fill but iv seen on the net a fitting so you dont have to open the lid but now carnt find it. I know ther is some 1/2inch hoselock fittings but can you get bigger and where?
i need to fill without undoing the lid as i will have my pipes going through it?
any idears?

use cam lock fittings

we fill using 1 1/2 bore pipe female on the hose male secured through the tank ( thread and back nut ) then when filled you put a cap on the male fitting to stop water sloshing out

It may depend on the type of tank you are using and what diameter hose you wish to use, but below is my suggestion for 1" hose.
It would require you to drill a hole in your tank ( or better still the lid ).

drill hole and fit this, you will need to possibly make thin rubber gaskets and buy a nut to thread on and tighten from inside the tank or lid.
