Chemical canundrum
« on: January 31, 2017, 04:04:26 pm »
Hello

I'm spoilt for choice with cleaning stuff

I have a box of Craftex Premium clean PH 11.5 Very high PH but gets the carpets sparkling

I have just tried alltec Ultimate master and citrus pre spray, carpets smelling lovely now but just didn't seem to get as much out as the Premium clean (carpet was much dirtier).

I know really anything over 10ph isn't ideal for any carpets, however most of what I do is nylon,

I'm tempted to order the alltec, but also tempted by the solutions tester one, but do i stick with craftex and go for a lower ph.. or carry on using the high ph and do an acid rinse after each one..

It's a tricky one :-\ I'm tempted to say use what does the best job as you are there to get the carpet clean,

I think a bit more experimentation is needed, perhaps increase the scrubbing before using the ultimate master. Or let it dwell a bit longer.

Or just hit it with a high Ph and damn the consequences

i carry 3 pre sprays

mpower
spm
shockwave

I know which carpet needs which solution using the minimum of time ,without going over and over and scrubbing .

so in conclusion carry them all

Its not only about the chems it's as much about technique. You learn this by experience I'm afriad. All us  old timers had to go through it, without any social media, mobile phones or forums, simply by trial and error - the best way to learn.

I use the same as Neil, but the most important thing you can do is follow the process and with of agitation.

Thanks guys..

I've gone for a prochem version ,

Fibresafe gold and prespray gold..  PH9, and good for cotton, wool and nylon!

If i'm not happy i'm going to try the solutions ones... However I like that i can go to a physical shop for the prochem, and I don't have to organise delivery etc..

Lets see how they go :)

thanks

You need to know the type of detergent your using as the hydrophobic end of the surfactant will greatly improve performace and if matched right with the environment will speed cleaning. emulsafaction is what makes cleaning easier once you know this them heat power and machines dont mater any more as once the dirt bond is broken flushing is really the only problem and that depends on how dirty a carpet is, thats when water recovery and inturn drying times comes in.

prochem have types of on labels. Whats great with this is that you can use two different types one as pre spray and one in tank. this can have added bonus on wool as harsh products damage the feel of wool and this is the reason most people buy wool over man made. one reason prochem training is better than NCCA (as well they teach differnt methods form soil levels)

Find it strange you clean mainly Nylon as this isn't a common fibre for domestic carpets.   Try Formula 90 powder for the majority of your cleans and liquid or powdered One Clean for Wool. Alternatively Pre Spray Gold for Wool and Powerburst for synthetics.
