Websites
« on: January 21, 2017, 11:39:35 am »
I have a question that some of you may be able to answer for me, How much work do you guys think comes from your websites by people searching for driveway cleaning in that area.

Reason I ask this question is because i have a website for my other business and 90% of the work i get comes from my website i.e people searching in google for bouncy castle hire in my area,  but i have spent 100s of hours on working on the site to keep it ranking at the top of google.

So would it be wroth me putting the same time and effort in to my driveway cleaning website or do you think that flyers, business cards, word of mouth, etc etc are just as important ?

Thanks in advance

I asked my website designer how much work to expect from my website and he searched the popular search terms for powerwashing and told me exactly how many people in my area where searching google for  every search term applicable. I was surprised how few people where using Google to find a powerwashing company.

unfortunately   I don't know how he actually searched for the information.... but it was something to do with Google Adwords search tools (Someone might know what tooli it was)

For powerwashing I consider my website to be an information portal for people to visit directly rather than just find it on a Google search. My  website is on the first page of Google but brings in no work at all from  Google searches

I had the same experience with a pressure washing site.  Mine ranked on the first page for pressure washing leeds for 2 years. From what I can recall I had 2 enquiries in that time! I binned it in the end. Compared to carpet cleaning the search volume is next to nothing

Yep me and my worker do them!  About 1.5hrs a day together then he helps me set up on jobs then leaflets while I work.

Tried using companies but nothing beat us doing them, they definitely get delivered to exact areas I want.

How do you know what Joe public puts in google to search for the services you offer ?  What do you want to clean ? All of my work is either existing customers or comes from the websites.  I did bouncy castles for a few years  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

You can find out what people are searching for in google analytics. What you need to do is go into your search quires there's lots of other information like bounce rate, landing pages, what devices people are using and much more.

So you used to run a bouncy castle business ? how do you find it mate

So you get your worker to help you set up and once your working he goes off and delivery's flyers ? If so that's a great idea

Yep that's how we do it. Been using this system for about 10yrs,  a lot of people take the p about it saying why does a successful business need to spend time walking the streets putting out leaflets......but we find it incredibly successful and in summer it keeps us working 6-7 days a week.

Well I think its a great idea to be honest as like you say once your set up its really a 1 man job so what better way to make use of the other person then to send him out trying to get more work.

Really surprised by this ?!

Maybe its where your based, vast majority of our work is via web, I can't remember last time we delivered flyers, generally  work 5 + days a week pressure washing all year as long as temps are positive during day.

Number one for the keywords put in by the web owner  -  not Joe public searching. I do no advertising other than the websites

If some wants thier drive cleaning what would they search on Google? Same for patio cleaning , path cleaning, etc..etc..etc

People search ***town name ****  then  what they are looking for  or what they are looking for then town name.  You can search variation of keywords

I think I live in a black spot for the Internet, the guy Who did my website has done 100s of cleaning websites for companies who get all thief work from the Internet, he can't believe how little work I get

I am most definitely not an expert when it comes to websites, but we do seem to get results via web.

Searched 'driveway cleaning Hull' you come about 4th  from our location,
why do you show different addresses on your websites ?
Seems strange to use the heading  patio CLEANERS,  I would change all of these to 'Cleaning' to match content ... But as I say what do i know

i just searched that phrase from Hull and we have 2 listing on the first page one  which is 2  separate locations our unit and my home   East Yorkshire clean is my sons company who lives in Hull my home is in Beverley

The match of wording from heading to content might be important  but to be honest it's on the first page already so how much better can it get.  I'm not sure how Google search algorithms work  do they just index the heading or the content
