I am usually very tolerant towards 'not todays', but if anyone spoke to me in the manner that appears here, I would say something along the lines of 'No problem, I am sorry to lose you', then walk away.

Not that impressed with your reply, you should never let anybody think they're your bread and butter
especially when they're not.

I saw someone working traditional Friday with snow on the ground and next to knowhere to put the ladder,I must admit I thought it looked like he was desperate which in all honesty is really who would work in that unless they really have to. Maybe he should do enough when the weathers good so he doesn't have to work in such conditions.

I'm not sure he was trying to impress you.

I have to smile when a tradder is judged to be desperate for working in bad weather. What does that make a poler who does the same?

Had one a few months ago. Woman saw me cleaning next door and asked for a quote, telling me her window cleaner was unreliable and turned up when he felt like it. I told her we were reliable and would turn up every month ( which she was happy with). First coupla months fine, 3rd month " can you leave them today ", no problem, continued to do them on the fourth month. 5th month " littl'uns in bed asleep, can u leave them "...................I suffer it and go ok. 6 month daughter answers door, " mum window cleaner is here "   ( " not today" from upstairs ). I says " well they weren't cleaned last month".  Daughter : " mum they weren't cleaned last month" ( "yh I know" from upstairs). Me to daughter " tell ya mum I ain't coming back, bye "............and walked off. I simply can't be arsed with time wasters. When I explain to customers that most women or men wouldn't expect their partners employers to employ them for 6 months of a year, the other 6 without pay, they do seem to understand.............but my patience is not my biggest virtue. ;)
If Carlsberg made window cleaners....I'd be one of them....lol

Only turned away three times, but I'd have dropped after the first if on the day. If it was a text ahead after the second cancellation probably.

I went back and cleaned 3 months out of 4 and they cancelled on the last two (5 &6 ). Not desperate at all !!. Just give the customers a fair crack of the whip if its a genuine cancellation, but not to be told from upstairs to leave it...........just plain rude !!

Working in the snow when it's been heavy and you can hardly get around is desperate imo, like I say when that time of the year comes you should have banked enough not to pannick. They might not say anything but you can be sure they are thinking ahh bless him he must need the money, that guy i saw was working with snow all over the place on a ladder,of course you will look like your desperate working in that.

I'm a window cleaner and an employer.  We clean in all weathers,  just try and find jobs best suited for certain conditions.  Does that make me or my employees desperate?  I certainly don't feel desperate and actually enjoyed cleaning in the snow on Friday and gave me a good feeling at 5pm that we'd done a good full weeks work.

There's nothing  desperate about working in bad weather not everyone  makes a fortune at this job . Some people  just can't be bothered to try and work in bad weather.i try my best to work in bad weather doesn't make  me desperate  I'm just trying to keep on top of my work not easy playing catch up when weathers been  bad
