Do you know if you are able to drill holes to fit a tank?
I've been looking into the leasing option but the ones I've contacted said no.
Sometimes the telephone sales people don't understand so reply with the 'safest' answer. Then there are the idiots.
Unless things have changed drastically in the last 10 years, there are many forms of lease. One form is Contract Hire and these can be difficult. The finance house takes the risk of value at the end of the contract and will bill you for any rectification work needed to return the van to a good condition which would excluded fair wear and tear.
If you take on a finance lease, then the vehicle's condition at the end of the contract is your problem as you have to take the risk. If the vehicle isn't worth the final balloon payment then the shortfall is for your account.
We we sold vans to builders, the lease didn't include a final balloon payment. So even if the van was only worth scrap value it didn't matter. Drilling holes in the floor to secure equipment isn't an issue.
Contract Hire is off balance sheet and not treated as an asset on your books. Leases are on balance sheet and the van is treated as an asset even although you will never own it at the end of the contract.
Then there is a lease purchase which you can own at the end of the contract.
However, there is a company called Northgate whose HQ is in Darlington. They have numerous leasing outlets throughout the country. They won't allow any modifications to the vehicle you lease. You aren't even permitted to decal the van up.
If you take a lease out for say 25k a year for 3 years, there is a destinct possibility that the van would be replaced with a new one at the end of each year. They would make more profit by selling a 1 year old van with 25k on the 3 times than by selling 1 van at 3 years old with 75k on the clock. They would also be turning stock over quicker and would earn themselves bigger fleet bonuses as they would be buying 3 vans instead of just 1.
