Torrential rain?.......... my arse!
« on: January 12, 2017, 10:42:30 am »
10.30 now and a bit of drizzle!!!

Forecast last night was for torrential rain starting at 8.am

These weather people and media half wits are doing my head in! News this morning showed at least half a cm in Scotland - anyone would think the world was going to end. What's this ice bomb called this week? Storm Bullpoope?

The thing that winds me up dave is when you talk to people and they say there's gonna be  bad storms this  week  it puts you in a bad mood but when the day comes luvely sunny weather .one of my mates used to be a window  cleaner  and he used to not even bother going out on the south called bad day even if it was fine because he arranged with is partner to go shopping omg

I think anyone that plans their work by forecasts will lose an awful lot of money. Even when they are right, you can normally get through everything - in the south anyway.

I have to agree. For all the modern technology and the 40m that the met office invested not too long ago- they seem to be no further forward in regards to accurate weather forcasting. I watch it but do not at all rely on it- if I did I would hardly ever leave the house!

They can only work with so much information. For instance where i am based, we have the higher grounds of sheffield etc which takes the battering of bad weather whikst doncaster is in a valley in comparison and we miss alot of the bad bad weather. For instance on snowy days, you can see cars driving through with maybe 3 or 4 inch of snow still on top of car, whilst we get a light dusting of the stuff. Not sure if the forecasts take local geographical elements into account.
But either way ive not checked the forecast for quite some yrs now. Not even when i was trad because i lost too many days in the past when i did.
Now i have a magic stone outside my house. If its a dark shiny grey, its raining whereas if its a dull grey, its not raining  ;D

The weather is always sensationalised nowadays. It's not 'going to snow' or 'turn cold' its an ARCTIC BLAST!!, WEATHER BOMB!! or my new favorite:

THUNDERSNOW!!

Ha ha very true mate!

We're just finishing for the day as it is awful here. Normally work through the rain but had a good day today and got a job finished quicker.

I hate January - next year will spend the month in Brazil I think!
