Cold weather additives for wfp systems
« on: January 07, 2017, 11:04:05 am »
Hello everyone
Had trouble this week with the water from my wfp system freezing up on doorsteps. Could hand clean doors, but ice may still form in other hazardous areas, putting customers at increased risk.
So, thinking about ordering a tank additive? But have two questions, for those of you in the know please. Got to consider H&S implications
1) Do these additives really stop the water freezing, once on the doorstep/ground please?
2) Which, if any, brands would you guys recommend please ?
Regards from Steven Greaves

I normally pick up a couple of 25kg bags of white rocksalt, plus ive also made a (salt) shaker from a lrg plastic cereal container, and i shake/spread it out in the walkway areas if needed. As above cloth or trad doors, otherwise your customer will be straight onto channel 5 tv, looking for the injury lawyers 4 u advert!

We don't get too many days that are that cold down in the south east but when we do I carry a small bag of salt in my jacket pocked and just sprinkle a little around doorways, doorsteps etc. anywhere where foot traffic is likely. Does the trick for me. Haven't had to use it thus far this year though.
