Pressure washing maintenance?
« on: December 04, 2016, 05:53:23 pm »
Does anyone offer a maintenance option for people after their drive or patio has been cleaned.
If so can I ask what constitutes maintenance eg 6 month or annual also can maintenance be done from Nov through to March. Thanks

Hi Jonathan,
As there aren't any replies yet I'll just give you my thoughts for what they're worth.
From March to August/September I do almost nothing but drives/patios 6 days a week, with block paving cleaning/re-sanding/sealing being by far the most common job. Personally when I quote for a job I always let the customer know how easy it is for them to maintain it once it's been done professionally,i.e. regular sweeping and wash down with bucket of diluted Jeyes once a month.
Assuming you use a decent sealant to stabilise the sand and that holds, then weed treatment or prevention would be the obvious thing to offer. Strictly speaking you are required to undergo suitable training to legally apply pesticides in a commercial/professional context. Such things may or may not bother you but it is something to bear in  mind.
So if I was looking for a maintenance related add-on the obvious choice would be something like application of Benz Biocidal Wash. It doesn't involve blasting sand out of the joints and can be applied using wfp equipment or even a watering can. And you could sell it on the basis of its long term residual protection against lichen etc and , so they say, ongoing cleaning power.
It's quick and easy to apply and without the mess of pressure washing. That would be my choice and could justifiably be sold as a worthwhile additional service.
Don't know if that helps? Cheers.

I advise the customers , how to maintain their hard surfaces themselves .
I probably revisit the same property every two years for a deep clean .
During the winter months unless a customer is selling their property or the surface becomes a slip hazard , i advise them to wait for spring / summer .

Andy , when starting  out you need a regular income stream for the winter months . When you get established then work comes in all year round from the commercial sector .

I was thinking about maintenance.  I take on board that if your really busy you don't need to consider it, however I see potential in it if your looking to expand and ensure all your staff have work all year, it may help.  I was thinking of offering a monthly direct debit fee for maintenance, where you do a biocide wash in spring, weedkiller in autumn, resend any points that need it, gutter clean, if you do there roof, weak biocide annually.  TBH i've not thought it through or how much I would charge or if its even viabe, however its a good business model to retain customers that is used in other industries and  ensures residual money/cash flow all year.  Essentially they will be paying for work before you have even done it.

I have been a member of BNI for just 6 months. My catagory is floor care mostly interior. I always said I would give it 2 years overall I am happy with it. It does take time and I am just starting to see the benefits.
My main business has been carpet and uph plus tile and grout with some Stone work too.

Earlier this year I helped do a large pressure wash job and really enjoyed it. I had never really considered it before but want to do more.
My thoughts were the same as yours Fresher as I like the idea of offering a maintenance service to keep the client and get through the quiet times. Ed thank you hadn't considered commercial for the winter months.
Thank you all for helping.
