Rigsbys sounds an easier option, and yh I like having control over the reel. Press with one finger, rag in the other hand. The only reason I went for the winch remote is that it had the key fob remote aswell, so I had both options.............and I'm a gadget man. Post the link to the switch Rigsby and it may help Kev out ...rather than the wiring of the relay.

Lol, same here.  I've also got the winch remote, but haven't fitted it yet!!

I only had one in my pack. I fitted spade connections to the wires, then to the switch.
Also, there are two holes in the switch that you can use to mount it to a frame ( I have a wooden bar going from one side of the van to the other, shoulder height,) using a couple of screws.

Here ya go m8, Sorry it looks a bit confusing, but its much easier when its laid out in front of you. I have colour co ordinated the relay wires and the switch wires so that you know which goes where, You will need some extra wiring to make the connections to reach etc.... The blue circles are where I made the connections with bullet or spade terminals.

Let me know how you get on. Be careful when stripping the switch wires as they are very fragile.

Quick question  fieldsy where different coloured wires join it's just for the wiring diagram isn't it

the wires leading from the switch are the exact colours as are the ones coming from the relay up to the point of the blue dots. Anything else is extra wire I added, other than the motor wires

I used a 30amp relay with built in fuse. The wiring is pretty straight forward. The white wire on the winch doesn't get used. I'll hook out my diagram for connections and post it up

Finally got it all up and running on one of my trusty Hannay reels.
Managed to fix the motor to the frame of the reel too, so that it's a complete unit when I move it around.
It works great and saves a lot of time and energy.  The only problem I had was when it got snagged when reeling in and it blew the 20amp fuse I had. Changed that to a 30amp now and be more aware of snags.

I have just ordered another set for my 2nd reel.

Pretty much as all you need is the motor (ensure it has a cog on for chain drive), a cog and a chain.
Oh and some patience whilst you do the build

Cool,  Ive gone and bought all the (basic pieces) I need. 
I have a spare reel to tinker with so I will use that and buy the remote and other parts next week.

I have all the parts now.. spent a couple of hours sorting out my base and another hour putting the motor on the base (had to remove all the nails lol)

just need to wire it in and test and ill have it up and running...  i have photos, will upload them later this week
