I take it that you want the splitter to get a link off and replace with the link pin so as to make the chain the right length and join it together again?
Of you're not too heavy handed, use a grinder and carefully grind away the head of the pins until flush with the link. Then use a knackered  old Philips screwdriver or preferably a punch and tap out the pins. Rejoin chain with the split link part, clip back together 👍 simples !!

Im still waiting on my chain splitter, but this is my reel so far (took a couple of snaps whilst fitting it). Needed to trim the spacer that came with the reel inorder to fit it together.



I havent set up a remote, as personally im used to walking to van to wind up hose and saw no need for a remote as instead of manually winding, i just hit the on/off switch (£4 from asda, lol nice n easy)

When the hose is fully out the motor struggles to pull the hose in. But the more it's reeled in the faster it goes.

it will get faster as you reel in because it basically turns your reel into a flywheel. Do you have the full 100m out or do you bring your connector back to the van with you?

had a mate spend over £100 on this project. he made it proper industrial with big pillow block bearings and running off 24v as he has a couple of hose guides that were causing too much resistance for 12v. i will post a pic from my phone.

No he got the bearings as he didn't want to use his reel frame as it was worn I think. He solved his resistance issue by running on 24v.
He just has an annoyance of sometimes his reel keeps spinning after he's stopped so it goes slack and the hose goes over the outside of the reel. He's thinking of solving that with a brush to put some friction on the reel.

My order arrived quickly from them. (chain, motor, sprocket)
I ordered a chain splitter from them that broke, they were quick to sent me a replacement

The chain splitters were not in stock that's the only thing I haven't ordered

An issue I had with petal type reel was driving me mad. The cog kept having too much side to side play and the chain jumping off all day. I tried all sorts to fix it. Eventually I realised when you strip the reel down that both side of it push together into a plastic central piece. What happens in use is it starts to come apart throwing the cog of centre. I don't think the petal reels are the best choice for this conversion for that reason. I'm going to try to tape mine together at the weekend otherwise I'll buy a different type of reel maybe a man's parts one.
