Theyve told me to send the 4 motors back, and theyll send the correct ones. Which i have no issue with, but these guys seem like morons, and theyre english isnt great. I reckon ill send them back and never hear from them again, annoyed i ordered 4 from them  £92!!!!  Its annoying as theyre giving the answers ebay will want to see. I know what you mean m8, Its not exactly rocket science is it. Xtreme toys have answered me, and said they are going to resolve the issue......................I won't hold my breath ! I haven't even heard back from the ebay seller !!!!!. I wanted a refund, so ebay have said send it back when you hear from seller. I've heard feck all from seller, so in complete limbo, he has my money, I have a wrong item ( even though I've put a cog on it now  ) .................and I ain't sending it back knowing he'll keep my money!!!. The only other option is the other ebay link posted, but I'd still like to hear if others received a cogged version from him aswell as the poster ?. If so, I'll go with him, other than that I'm gonna go with the belt versions, pull off the belt drive and cold weld the cog on with JB kwik weld.......................if it can hold a gearbox casing together ( youtube ) it can certainly hold a cog on a spindle ( I've ordered some    )

I got a 50% refund for the original belt drive one i got and have ordered a cog for it so that will be back up.

The link i gave should be good, mine came very fast it might have been next day but defo within 48 hours

lol, know what you mean, sad that I'm excited about getting a new chain link to get it all up and running.....................only to be finishing at the end of the week, and have to wait until next year to use it....lol

the other half took the kids shopping on Saturday so i got some garage time. 
Used it for two days and it works perfectly. I will tidy it up over the holidays and then give it a proper test in the new year.

Would not that motor get damaged by water ingress when it rains or if the hose should ever leak etc having it exposed like that?
I'm also not found of the idea of the cables, chain & sprockets being exposed like that either more so for safety reasons.

Surely it needs a cowling around the motor, cables protected somehow and the chain & sprockets incased too

You obviously don't have one of these PF reels do you Smurf?
They sit so low on the ground that you scrap the skin off your knuckles every time you wind the hose in manually.   

I guess Vdubdave should really put the motor and drive chain on the opposite side to the water inlet. However, the Waterworks kit doesn't have chain guards either.

What I would be concerned about is that if the hose popped off over the side of the reel, then the chain and sprocket could chew the hose up in an instance.

Someone also put a photo up of his reel strapped to the rear doors and he also had a Combo van quite a while back on one of the forums.

How have you secured yours on Vdubdave if you don't mind me asking.

wow spruse youve got a good memory that was my trial run that i did 3 years ago. A couple of weeks after that photo i bought a full steel rear door and made some bolt on steel brackets to slot the reel into, it takes a few seconds to put the reel on,  and i can keep the van shut up all day, I've been using like that ever since.

The whole electric reel project is work in progress. (I've been close to buying the remote hd reel quite a few times) I do plan on concealing the motor & wiring  to protect it from rain etc, but i may end up leaving it in the van and using a pulley system through the floor.
As for putting it on the other side of the reel away from the water inlet is purely because i didn't want to lose the handle yet, but its not a big job to swap sides.

I am going  to make some small guards to prevent the hose from falling off the reel into the chain, but to be honest i have made it fall off on purpose quite a few times to see what happens, but the gap is quite tight so the minibore doesn't really get stuck in anything because its too big,  microbore may get jammed up a bit more.

I remembered it purely because there was another cleaner somewhere many years ago who fitted brackets to the rear doors of his Dispatch/Expert/Scudo and had his hoses securely bolted to those. If I remember correctly they could swivel through 90 degrees as well. It didn't look very pretty but it worked for him.

Those electric motors are built for scooters which I'm sure well get wet from time to time as well.  So I wouldn't expect the odd rain shower would matter too much.  It looks as though cooling would be through the motor casing rather than through any open 'vents'. I would imagine they would use roller bearing on the armature shaft with seals to prevent grease escaping. Those seals also stop dirt and water getting in from the outside.

Clever Forum name says he is going to redesign his rollers under his van this holiday period, so I get that the rollers he has aren't totally working for him.  He has been experimenting with his sytem for a couple of years to date.

Another source of motors gave a bit more info on these motors. They are 24v but can be run at 18v or 12v. Running at 12v halves the motor speed and also halves the motor's torque. So pulling hose through rollers will put extra demands on the 'restricted' motor.

yeh im finding that with the small pulley i use, they do create drag on the hose, the more pulleys the more drag.

Even tho it only runs on 12v it is plenty fast enough, i was thinking about a bigger sprocket on the reel, it may slow it down a bit but it would give it more torque, which would help it pull around corners and long wet grass.  Microbore hose would be easier for it to pull in, but then they do say that on the waterworks website.
I used microbore for quite a few years but swapped to minibore purely because its less strain on the pump and battery but i did like the lighter microbore.

I bet it works a lot better than Inside though .
