Hi m8, yes its the same motor, just that they sent me a 300w instead of a 250 though ?. If you have the cog from power scooter it has a "D" shaped hole exactly the same as the spindle, it just force fitted it on and it ain't moving ! I've requested a refund/new motor from seller but not heard anything yet. Its got to be worth having a crack at one of yours m8, just to see as a £5 refund is feck all considering the cock up they've made.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T ORDER THIS COG
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162295001499?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Bad planning on my part, got the motor all wired up ready to go, got the cog bolted to the reel.....................cog diameter is too small for reel spindle..........................b******s !!!, comes to mind. Just order another cog and back to drawing board...lol. Oh well its all a learning curve  :( ;) .............I'll know for the next one. :)

That's the one I got. It will fit my claber reel with a homemade woodruff key but won't go on the shaft far enough to bolt to the reel sides. Will need a different cog for my petal reel.

I've also received the belt drive motor when ordered the sprocket motor  >:(

I'm sure they are thinking 'this many people willing to build there own with parts very similar to ours. They must really like the idea but not like the price. Maybe we should lower our price a bit then all these people will give up their efforts before they get their replacement motors from china and work out the correct size cogs'

Something like that  ;D

Why not just buy the parts you need from them as would save all the messing about trying to save a few quid surely?

My first electric hose reel cost £12 once you have the right motor its much cheaper especially if you have a few vans.  Im going to see hiw a belt driven one runs too.

Nice one, yep had mine all working today, just didn't have it spaced far enough away and the chain hit the frame sending the chain split link flying into the van somewhere....lol. Spaced the cog out with another bolt on each nut and just got to get another split link and it will be up and running. When I make another for the other reels, I'll get the cog you got Adam, as the hole in mine was too small, but I luckily have some metal bore bits and bored it out a bit more :).

Yes space is a bit tight where the cog goes.

Took about 3 hours as had to keep playing with the correct distance to space it out to avoid the frame and then avoid the blots protruding from the frames clamp.

Then it didn't spin true it was like a buckled wheel so I had to offset it slightly with washers on one bolt and tease it with a hammer to straighten it. Looks pretty good now though just needs neatly installing.

yh, mines slightly out of "true", but not enough for the chain to come off now :)

@LWC, got your mail m8, not ignoring you, just been busy.....lol..with this new project ;). I'll add you on FB m8. I still think its worth the investment for a few hours playing  ;) and getting it running. Petrol Scooter must be wondering what the hell is going on ?. Did you have nay luck with your motors m8. I've heard nothing back from my seller at all for a few days now !!!!!!

They will be wondering why the sudden interest in the UK to convert bicycles to electric.  Do you think they have increased their stock holding of batteries, battery holders, UK plug chargers etc to cope with the demand of this sudden interest?
