How you keep you van warm in winter

Hi
I usually use antifreeze through the machine but I heard some use some sort of heater can someone let me know what kind of a heater please or a link

halaogen heater with a  timer, no fumes no danger, just a bit of warmth now and then through the night. job done. Lets hope we dont get to many really cold nights......... ;D

Unfortunately I don't have access to electricity  I park the van in the main road

Just been quoted £1400 for an Eberspatch heater, runs off the vans fuel tank, Faak that, I scored a green house heater and extension lead for £30 instead  ;D

So I am guessing that you guys who run an power cable to the heater in your van have to leave a window or door open a little to allow the cable to get into the van ? How will this affect your van insurance ?

Also wondering if insurance would be valid with a 240 volt lead powering an appliance in an unattended vehicle?

I have a truck mount but park van in street, so can not put heater in van, in the past when the temperate dips I usually take wand, stair tool and hand tool indoors together with 2 x 50ft of solution hose
I then wrap the machine in a couple of old quilts seems to help

Someone mentioned on here last year that external temps need to get below -5 before your pump will be damaged, this concurs with my 20 odd years experience, I parked up in Nottingham one night when it dropped to -10, I had a couple of quilts wrapped round the machine, the fluid in the pressure gauge froze but no other damage, make a habit of draining all hand tools and wands off at this time of year, several times I've had to replace brass valves that have frozen and split on tools
