Ignore what people say
« on: November 08, 2016, 05:12:12 pm »
So since Friday i've had several people say to me, oh i suppose you wont be working next week, especially tuesday it's forecast rain and snow all day and it will be too cold.

These days i literally just ignore any advice i am given or any weather forecasts, infact i dont even check the weather forecast anymore.  I realise that some places probably did get snow today in the uk.

Apart from 1 hour of rain today, i had a record day in record time, but supposedly i should have taken the day off today because of "the weather" hmmm, think i will just carry on ignoring what people say ;)

When it comes to the weatehr its best to just take it as it comes. I do check the weather, for example if heavy rain is forcast for the afternoon it would be a good idea to get out early and get cracking but like you say its not worth worrying about until its upon us.

It was supposed to snow today, then it was supposed to rain this aft, weve head neither.

Very rarely do we get weather bad enough all day day long to stop us doing anything, just play it by ear, it usually works out alright.

All my customers got the waffle when i switched to wfp, how i can still work in the rain and i explain this to new customers as well. So unless its heavy rain, i carry a thin waterproof jacket n waterproof trousers in bk of van. Quick change n still work, so it doesnt matter really  :)

Nathan, what exactly did you say to customers to explain why you could clean in the rain using WFP.  This is something i want to do this winter just interested to see what you say to customers ;)

I first started with all the waffle, to do with hiw trad cleaning left a veneer and so when rained it made a mess of windows. Then how wfp doesnt and so rain doesnt effect results etc etc.

Now however i just simply tell new customers that rain doesnt effect my clean and so to keep my regular maintenance of windows every 4wks, i still work in the rain but offer 24hr quarantee

Very few wpf cleaners stop work because it rains unlike trad. It's just a matter of educating customers to expect them to be cleaned on rainy days. However high winds it's more difficult to get satisfactory results .

Also cuts out all this crap like "Oh it looks like it is going to rain can you leave them today"

Just realised i have double standards  ::)roll
Ive this customer, dry sense of humour, old lass. Even now she shouts, looks like rain can u skip mine. Im happy to do this for her, cant explain why.......
Yet all my other customers, probably ones that annoy me for various reasons. If they stop me because its raining or looks like rain after ive already explained how i can and explain again when they ask me. Even though ive cleaned everyone elses in the area, then i tell them to get another window cleaning who is prepared to loose income or a days wage because it rains. After ive invested in this equipment which allows me to do so.

Nathan - I've got 3 or 4 like that - you'd sack 'em off normally but for some unexplained reason can't bring yourself to bin 'em!

I agree with you 100%.

In early years my response was " we won't charge you for the extra rinse."  We also offer the 24 hour guarantee. We cleaned a house yesterday in the rain and no matter what a customer thinks, we left the job much cleaner than they were before we started. (They were in and were quite happy for us to clean them.)

However, these days I hate working in the rain, so I usually don't if I have the choice. I hate wet clothes, a wet van seat, wet glasses etc. One of the local lads calls me the most fair-weather window cleaner he has ever met.  ;D

In the same boat as Spruce hate working in it, but long since stopped looking at any weather apps as they are more
wrong than right.
