Land Rover Defender 110 WFP truck
« on: November 03, 2016, 11:45:03 am »
For sale: VIKING

A unique opportunity to own a custom built Water Fed Pole window cleaning system designed and built into the iconic Land Rover Defender.

We have used Land Rovers for cleaning windows for 15 years, now that production of the Defender has stopped we've decided to switch to Isuzu Dmaxs, so I offer for sale one of our fleet.

The vehicle:

It's a 2007 2.4 tdci 'puma'. It has 67k on the clock and 1 previous owner It is MOT'd until June 2017 but I'll put a fresh MOT on it for the winner.
I have included a picture of it from when we bought it so you can get an idea of the work that's went into it.

Good Points:

Fitted with a snorkel, wouldn't fancy wading with it but looks and sounds cool
265/75/16 Toyo A/T tyres with loads of tread, you won't get stuck with these on
6 speed gearbox
Bulletproof styling courtesy of www.bulletproofplating.com
Side steps / rock sliders, again courtesy of www.bulletproofplating.com
Absolutely solid throughout.
Chassis has been waxoyled annually and is like new
Serviced every 6 months in our ownership

Bad Points:

Being a Defender it has all the usual defender draw backs.
Uncomfortable, noisy, uneconomical, poor turning circle, cramped etc

The window cleaning system:

Evolved and tweaked over the last 10 years this is the last one of 20 that we've built. The first ones were in Series 3 land rovers in 2006, we built our first one in a Defender in 2009.

The system is a 450l tank comprising of 6x 75l wydale modular tanks linked together www.tanks-direct.co.uk/75_litre_water_tanks/75_litre_water_tank_-_modular.
They were designed to our spec to fit in the tub of a Defender, Full, half full or empty you can't tell the difference when driving the vehicle.
The tank frame is completely over engineered and bolted directly to the chassis using 50mm steel angle. We had one crash into a verge and roll at 60mph+ and it didn't budge.
It has a 100psi 5lpm shurflo delivery pump that splits to 2 Cox hose reels with 100m of 8mm hose each.
The pump is powered by a large leisure battery that charges through a split charge, it's controlled by an analogue varistream.
The reels are mounted on roller bearing sliders at the back of the vehicle. You pull the reel out, lock it in place and they swivel to give optimal directional coverage.
The reels are mounted at just below shoulder height, the ideal ergonomic height to have them for winding in.
It has twin DI resin polishing bottles.
There is an auxiliary heater connected to the vehicle cooling system which can be used to defrost the system if necessary.
There is a roof rack that fits 3 poles (we use 2x SLX22s + 1 Super Max 50 but its just a bar with fixing pegs so it'll fit any pole).

This is a great opportunity to buy a tried and tested window cleaning vehicle that delivers on many levels.
I truly believe that without my Landies I'd never have grown my business as easily and successfully as I have.

If you are new to window cleaning or water fed poles training can be provided if required.

I won't be selling this as it is to anyone local for obvious reasons, but please be aware when bidding that we are located in Aberdeenshire which is probably pretty far from where you are.
10% paypal deposit at auction end, Cash or cleared funds on collection. No exceptions.
Contact me before you bid if you have less than 10 feedback.
VAT included in final price.
You bid to buy not haggle. Best bet is to come for a look before you bid.

I think that's everything, any questions call Stuart on 01467670152 or Message through ebay.

Very nice! Sold my Defender two years ago and regretting it now. Are you selling them all eventually?
