Spring one shot remote feedback
« on: October 30, 2016, 10:09:14 am »
I know theses have been around for a few years before someone comments. lol
However I'm interested to find out if anyone is still using spring one shot remotes and if they are good or not?

Reason being I'm looking at updating my controllers in the near future and want the option to be able to turn the pumps off completely without having to go back and forth to the van. This would come in very handy for me especially when using a hot water heater for pure and/or softwash chemicals. Meaning not having the controller’s dead end detection keep cutting in when turned off at the pole and the pumps continue to pulse building up pressure in the hoses. Thus saving wear & tear on the pumps and reducing the risks of hose leaks etc.

I see Gardiners have them on sale too bundled with certain controllers.  http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/sale-67.html

I had a go on one a few years back as somebody I know had  bought a system with one installed and was selling up.
All I can say is it worked but it wasn't something I needed, I think they still use a small amount of power even when the pump is switched off but how that will effect the battery over the working day I don't know.

Installed when I bought the system from Grippa tank.

As I have a roller system the doors are locked. So they struggle. PLUS Grippa mount them behind a metal
Cover lol

I did actually.

The idea was to mount them under the van but never got round to it.

I'm sure I have a spring remote control knocking about in the shed, it was fine when I used it but had in van few years never really used so when I changed out hot water system it's been put in shed with controller

Any one wants it with a sensible offer I'll go search through my boxs

I'm not speaking from experience here as I use a trolley with a much shorter hose. However, could you not achieve what you're after by calibrating your gear to a lower pressure so your gear will never be subjected to pressures higher than say 40psi for example?

Thanks I already have the controllers de set quite low.

Would like the option also to be able to shut down the pumps altogether and start them again when I want remotely. Especially when using softwash chems and/or hot water on long run of hose.

Spring also do a one shot remote that you can increase/decrease the flow of the pump remotely which you can’t really do that with a gizmo at the pole very well if at all.

Regards to the extra draw on the batteries with the comment they may not last a day if working with one shot remotes. The type of jobs I do I and how my van is set up I can run off mains power whilst the pump batteries are charging if need be so I don't envisage that being an issue myself. Goes without saying will also carry spare remote fobs and spare batteries in the van too.

OK I've had a little experience with remotes over the years I've tried several types over the years, I ran several full threads about remotes and upgrading signal etc, Alex at gardiner can vouch for me and my knowledge, best advice is match areials to correct frequency and choice Wisley the antennas as it can really make a big difference, I've done backpacks with remotes to freedom trolly to van systems about 9 years ago, shame some of old forums don't exist anymore so years of threads like them are lost, but it's not rocket science, but you will need small stubby aerial on van east to make small hole an use tiger seal to waterproof it halfords do it aboutique 11 quid a tube but you'll find other uses for it like leaky gutters etc, here a link you'll need too,  https://www.rfsolutions.co.uk/antennas-c8  sorry old threads are gone but some will remember them, I still use remotes to this day, I hope this helps
