Does anybody have or use a disclaimer they use and could send me a copy of? We have just taken on an job in a village, its an old thatched cottage with old leaded windows, customer tells us they have been cleaned with wfp before and she has no concernes, however i know they can be delicate so would.like to get her to sign something.

Seriously a disclaimer/waiver is not really worth the paper it's written on in a dispute. Best bet is speak to a law firm for advice fist and should not cost too much to knock one up for you.

Craig, disclaimers aren't legally binding especially ones drew up by window cleaners who think they're solicitors.
That said they can discourage some from taking legal action but personally if I feel there's even a possibility of damaging a
customers property I don't take the work on, you need to keep this job as hassle free as possible.

If I'm honest I would class that as a high risk job myself and not worth the hassle.

Regards to insurance cover you have to make sure that you are covered properly for any mishaps and you are covered for "Damage to property being worked on, Treatment Risk etc etc" and not just basic public liability that most brokers sell to window cleaners.

We looked at the insurance and most were saying they dont cover the window being worked on...

The custy said she has had a wfp cleaner in the past who was spiradic and has since stopped going all together .. a few of thw windows are really old propper leaded individual glass panels etc, others are new normal double galzing, and some just flat glass with lead detail.. im wondering if the old cleaner stopped because of the risk!

your worrying over nothing mate.

i have a few properties (including a large church) with leaded windows hundreds of years old.just use a low flow and a flocked brush and do your best.some leak a little but no complaints.

Some are better than others but I normally turn the work away, no satisfaction in watching water streaming down the inside for me.
My insurance covers me for glass being worked on but the excess would mean it would have to be a big claim like a shop window to make it a worthwhile claim.

This one was a massive job that would have ruined the inside, probably a couple of days work just to do the exterior, just wasn't worth the risk or stress for me.

Agreed… That would be a job for a specialist firm using pickers etc and no way a job for someone like me waving a stick about with a brush on the end getting water everywhere.
