Carpet Protection

How much do people charge for protection?   I'm just starting to really focus on this and I was thinking £2 per square metre.  I charge £3 per square metre for the cleaning . TIA

not something I have even looked at is this something you offer after a clean or does it have to be dry ? next question is how much and what is the product .

I'm using Chemspec Stainshield, yes I apply after the clean as the carpet needs to be damp.  Works out at about £65 for a 3.78 litre container.

i always mention the protector... if people say no then i mention it again after carpet is clean..people are in a better frame of mind and a lot then decide to have it applied...and it will boost your profit on the job so its a win win.

i never push it, i always carry a good protecter but it just sits on the van generally!  guess im missing out on a trick, big time.............
note to self,  try sell protector to every client............

Buy £10k worth of protector in January. That will encourage you to shift it through the year.

I have concerns about offering protector but please feel free to prove me wrong.
The publics perception of protector is that it's a magic solution that will protect their carpet from anything and stop it getting dirty.
We know different , but , what happens if you apply protector and then Mrs smith spills all and sundry on the carpet , the stains don't come out , and then they blame us ?
Hopefully explained what I mean .
What do you think ?

Protectors do work....

1. Providing the correct amount is applied to a given area
2. It is not oversold...protectors 'resist' soil and stains and help maintain carpets and soft furnishings

Much of the negative talk about protectors are down to poor application (or total absence in some cases) of protector down to incorrect techniques used by some Retailers, some carpet cleaners and any Tom,  Dick or Harry (apologies to Tom, Dick and Harry)who gets hold of some and doesn't understand how they work
