Cancellation
« on: October 11, 2016, 05:54:35 pm »
Gave a quote for a job which the lady agreed so booked the work in for her.  Get a text to say hubby has just got home and said it was too much so wished to cancel and she will be letting him deal with it.  I never barter on price but gave them the option to procced if so wished after hubby getting other quotes.

I get the feeling she was none to pleased with him... Bless her.  ;D ;D

You have to by law allow them to cancel within the 7 day cooling down period. It should be written in the terms and conditions on the quote

Its always us fellers  ::)roll   ::)roll
When my mrs got a bin cleaner i scoffed at his prices, lol only a couple of quid. I said why bother, ill do it myself.............do you wanna guess how many times i did??
After several mnths of non cleaning of bins, my mrs got the cleaner in.
I sometimes push it (in cheeky way), saying now you know hes not going to do it! I say it all the time................. sometimes the lassi realises the truthfulness of that and simply tell me to crack on. But sadly, its only sometimes that works

Yes I know. I just found it rather funny that the lady sounded really peed off with her hubby.
I wish I was a fly on the wall to hear what she said to him but I have a good guess what was said.  ;D ;D

Anything over £42.00, they have the right to cancel within 14 days. Anything under, I don't think there is a rule.

Not quite any domestic job up to £10k is 50% deposit.  Over 10k is treated as commercial so then we apply a minimum of 33% deposit then staged payments as agreed.  They all sign a contract as well as a copy of the Terms and Conditions.  I never get a cancellation as they have usually had more than enough time to think things through

Kev I would have thought it must be difficult at times convincing people to part with such large sums of money upfront. Can I ask what are your reasons for wanting a large deposit upfront in the first place as I’m sure some customers will ask you too?

Once customers have decided to use you there is never a problem with the deposit.  It shows commitment.  We charge upfront for all Materials, Travel, Fuel , Accommodation and Expenses.  Invariably a Professional Stone Cleaning / Restoration Job involves around 40% of the total cost in the aforesaid!

That said I don't see and have never had a problem even if you book in a £500 Pressure washing job why should they mind committing a deposit to you?  After all by the time it comes to ask for the deposit I have already sold us as a company, made friends with them, raised a contract, got them to sign it, booked the time off in the diary for the work and ordered what I need for the job.  This proves I am committed, the deposit proves they are in my mind!!!

In this case from the impression I got now the father has got involved and is wanting to have a go himself to try and save them a few bob.  Was a pig of a job to do anyway so good luck to him. Makes me laugh really as the 4 bed extended detached house the couple have just moved into worth over 500K and some of the roofline can't be reached by ladders safely.

I am running another course next week where we advocate you take a deposit, the dangers of using Hypo, and a New Lidl has just opened round the corner, I think it might be a benefit to you
