Meaasge for Jonny 87, or anyone Heating Element leaking Please help

I have fitted a 3KW Element to my 500Ltr upright tank. I have fitted to the lower part of the tank so it will heat up all of the water evenly. Only problem is that I couldn't get the screw on the inside of the element as my arms art long enough to reach to the bottom of the tank.
I have tried every thing from plumbers gold, to every glue you can think of and I can't stop if from dripping.
Jonny 87 or anybody got any ideas how I can seal it.
Cheers

Is it a Wydale tank?
If so they are quite thick so sometimes the thread on the heater element isn't deep enough to screw on the nut the other side.
You can buy emersion heaters which have a deeper thread.
I used an emersion heater spanner which was jubilee clipped to a power bar.

You need a mechanical flange nut from toolstation. Tank is too thick to get an ordinary flange nut on there.

I smeared all surfaces with plumbers mate except the face inside the tank
dead easy.

hi Dave,
Does that mean the longer flange will hold its self in the drilled hole as there is no way i can get a nut onto the back of it.

Yes you might need a very slightly bigger hole so you can pull the threaded middle through. The plate on the inside bites into the plastic fairly well so you don't need to hold it.
I lowered the back plate down inside the tank on a piece of wire, used two big allen keys as hooks through the center and screwed the other part to it. Wheñ it's good and tight you let go, walk off and fetch your element, feed it through and tighten it up.

Dave has the best idea on this.
Mine was pre installed but if I was to do it again I would do the above.

Once you've got the flange nut bolted in place you can easily swap the element in future if needed or even fit a blank cap. Chumbucket was the brains. I think he's banned now.
