Hi all ,

I'm just looking at my RO set up , from my garden tap to the RO - I use garden hose . My tap pressure isn't the best 3.5 bar from the tap , but my plumber said its fine as 5.5 bar is exceptional! anyway, water board said its fine as well . If I changed to thinner pipe from the garden tap to the RO using John guest fittings , would that change the pressure/ results I'm having from my RO ? I do use a booster pump but iv no idea what it boosts it to.

You can fit an in-line pressure gauge if you wanted to measure/monitor the pressure for any reason.

 Also the guy at Collins water advised there would be little or no difference in hose size when using ro man type systems as at some point before or at the filters the hose size is stepped down so that will govern the overall pressure from the tap, obviously boosted with the pump.

If you has a really long run from the tap to the system it 'may' might a slight difference but unlikely from what I was advised.

If anything changing to a smaller hose from the tap would have the opposite effect as you would be reducing the flow of water to the pre-filters/ro.

Where is your booster? Before prefilters or before membranes? The tap pressure would be ok for prefilters but they would slow the pressure down before it hits the membranes. Therefore if its not already, thats where you need your booster fitting; before the membranes

Yep , hose goes to prefilters, then booster , then membranes 👍

This is a really good explanation to your question.. The answer Collins gave isn't strictly 100% correct, but for purposes of a RoMan type r/o they could get away with saying it. Those r/o's don't exactly use much water, but I would use bigger diamt pipe to as close to the r/o as possible.
