I just want to add something to this..

At some point I plan on expansion, I'm 31 now, my kids are in primary school, my other half works full time so I switch between working and school runs. I enjoy it, I enjoy picking the kids up from school, taking them to the park, watching them grow up. I absolutely love the work/life balance i have at the moment. Once the kids hit senior school and I'm no longer required for school runs, and the kids would rather be seen dead then with daddy, I will expand. I already know exactly how, and roughly when I'm going to do it. By age 50 I don't want to be on the glass, I want a couple of vans on the road where others are earning the money for me.

During the expansion phase I may ask for help and advice on tax issues, vat etc from those in the knowing, and once I myself am in the knowing I would be more then happy to share that advice.

However, at no point and under any circumstances would I ever feel the need to tell others, especially a bunch weirdos  ;D on a forum the extent of my success. If people ask, I would tell, if it helps them achieve whatever it is they want to achieve.
Once my goals are achieved I will crack open a bottle of wine, smile to myself and enjoy the fruits of my labour. That for me is enough.
I won't need recognition, I won't need to hear "well done buddy" from some guy iv never even met. I will be happy for myself. That's all that matters to me.

This why people need to understand I'm not bitter, jealous, resentful towards the achievers, I just have a different perspective that directly clashes with theirs.
Some day I will be them, just a different kind of "them".

When you reach that expansion phase and you ask for help on VAT, let's hope you don't get called a liar and abused on here then and forever stalked thereafter.  :)

I have a 100 ideas on ways I could expand my business to new heights, but I'm happy and content enough already in my life, so choose not to follow through with those ideas. I think the same goes for alot of others on here.
The only reason I criticise 'the million dollar babies' on here is I find their urge to tell the world 'how great their life is', slightly repulsive.
True inspiration comes from 'within', and not from some window cleaner down in Swindon.

"I could but nah I wont bother" then slag off others who do what you cannot do, how pathetic, stick to your day job son

Hahahahahaha I knew scrimble would be along.
Bored of your Lee Pryor fleshlight yet ;D

That's not likely to happen!

Its a shame you keep mentioning me in such a negative way Chris. I would have been a good person to advise you on the things mentioned in your post down the line.

That's a huge post just to tell everyone that you are happy. It usually transpires that those who are "happy, not bitter, not jealous" are almost always the opposite.

Not remotely. Just an observation of your self promotion of doing all this that and the other before you are 50.
The kind of thing you "revile".

I like to see a successful window cleaner as we are looked down upon in life, its the idiotic ooooh look at me threads that do my head in, who cares if you earn x amount, what would be nice would be the story behind why and how you did it and not just the money number.
I was so proud of myself when i started fresh and built up all my front only work, which got me out of the red and stress feeling depressed with an under priced round with no scope, I spoke about it on here and also gave inspiration to others to do the same as had many phone calls and emails from other windys from here, also with the sold board hunting, so many do that now. Noone on here knows what i earn and i like to keep it that way, im more about learning from others and helping others when i can, these twats that need to tell you they are at 250k or have 5000 customers and have 20 vans etc as good as it may feel to post that why not post how you get to your result and why you do it.
Sensible people dont post garbage like what they earn but the ones who feel they need to brag why not real it up a bit more and give your story on how you got to where you are today, thats what i like to read and what makes me want to try harder.

Didn't you post a picture of an office you did not long ago and how much you charged for it?

And I do agree with what you said.

Well that escalated rather quickly.

As far as feeling the need for praise, what a load of crap. I've already given myself a pat on the back and feel great for having changed 4 other people's financial status for the better. 2 are earning more than double their previous wages (yes minus my %) 1 is earning more than 3 times and the other is now earning roughly the same working 6 days a month.

Like I have said, I'm not in this for the money, although it obviously does me ok. It was a case of turn work away or make the most of it. I chose the latter.

I'm more than happy to offer advice to anyone, had a nice chat with another forum member only yesterday.

Personally if I was in your situation  I would cash in  warmer climate to aid the aches and pains cheaper living costs etc etc
Why run a  business where you are relying on others and all the stress and grief that goes with it

cash in and enjoy retirement
look after yourself family etc
and enjoy yourself
