When first fitted lid was letting by allowing water to come out when tank was full,I stopped it leaking by removing lid and screwing back on,eight months down the road the same thing is happening but I can't  stop it leaking.

If its the same lid on my wydale tank it has a centre fitting with an air inlet to prevent a vacuum being created as the tank empties. Water can escape through this fitting. I prevented it by drilling another hole close to the top of the tank and fitting a hose that acts as an outlet, the other end of the hose is fixed so its higher than the top of the tank.
The I bought a similar piece  as the centre fitting from the plumbing dept at B&Q, but without the air inlet.
The B&Q fitting is normally used for blanking unused holes in sinks.
Hope this helps.

I had the exact same problem couldn't stop it Leaking in the end I changed the tank it was that bad I had new lids galore, ive said before they are not meant to be in a vehicle in the first place there meant to be outside in a garage or on a farm lol. The only thing I use them for is a static system.

Try smearing a very thin coat of vaseline on the seal face and the tank. It stopped it leaking on ours. Of course, it won't stop water coming throught the vent, but that has never been an issue for us.

We found that as you tighten the lid the seal distorts as it doesn't slip on the tank.

Thanks for  replies,I've sorted it ,I used a piece of fairly hard foam rubber approx  6mm thick, laid the lid on it ,drew around lid, then cut it out, then cut a hole in the centre, layed in on top of tank, screwed lid on,no leaks yet and tank is full.
Glad I don't throw things out, can't remember where the foam came from

when i first came on here someone said put a carrier bag over the hole and screw the lid on.
i had a little leak from the tank when full so tried this, and has been leak free for nearly 5 years.

don't use the new bio-degradeable bags.
