i have been using  the univalve a few months now i  am sick to death of having to give it 2 or 3 hard pulls to get it going so I have gone back  to the aqua dapter  I have 3 of the univalves its the same on all 3. ill carry on with the aqua dapter until all the spares ive got run out. then what??? may be a tap of some sort. its not that the univalve is a crap idea its brill in theory  I think the spring needs addressing or what ever  it is that works it

It's not the univalve that your problem is with but must be your hose?

Also do you use hot water?

You need a stiffer hose for the univalve.

Mine turns off and in with the first pull now I use a stiffer hose.

PU hose is needed for good operation IMO.i love mine.it works fine even with hot water.no way would i be putting an aqua-daptor back on!

It could be wrong hose or maybe your pump pressure is set too high?

Had one on each of my poles from the get go and never had a problem. But I have been using PU hose from the start as well. I'd imagine the longer the pole the more likely they are to 'misfire' so to speak.
Just switched my main pole to Gardiner's Gooseneck valve and that is proving to be an excellent tap too. It may well become my favourite.

Dave has a good point too. The only time mine didn't work at all was when I fitted a 115psi pump with no pressure control. The univalve wouldn't operate at all at that pressure. Mind you I couldn't even get my hoselocs apart at that pressure either

Use an on/off valve at the base of the pole where your hands woud be...got t be easie.

Dave, a few questions as this does not seem right.
1) How old are the valves?
2) What type hose and size hose do you use?
3) Is the hose pushed on to far on the moving side?
4) Have you contacted the supplier to sort any issue out?

Number 3 as been an issue, the uni-valve on the left, the hose is pushed on to far.
One on the right is correct.
If the hose is pushed on to far it will not shut off correctly.
Last result is that i will replace all three with stronger springs.

ive had the blue pole hose and the orange hose on checking both were fitted correctly

Kink method and a good old fashioned washing line cloths peg work wonders you know if you should want to keep the flow turned off.

You could still make it work on the outside of you pole.

We make a clip for outside hose, that fixes to the angle adapter, works providing you don't twist hose around your pole.

Just get a bigger tank in your van end of problem,at best I pinch the hose I've never gone in for all this pole valve stuff,hey everyone invented something that's most of the time not needed. Anyone needing to keep turning the water on and off IMO is working to slowly,I may pinch the hose if I've got a long walk round the back without disconnecting from the microbore but that's about it.

clever forum name i remember somewhere you saying gardiners reinforced hose works well with your univalve.
mine doesn't but just spent a day with pump on 50 which is low for me & the hose was pretty good at this,  is your pump setting as low as this?
