Four jets - 1.4 or 2.0 mm?
« on: September 23, 2016, 05:57:41 pm »
Thinking of buying supreme medium hybrid 35cm brush and not sure what would be the best jet option. My reel hose is 8mm.

I borrowed a Gardiner 45cm brush with 4 x 1.4mm jets from a friend of mine. The 1.4 jets are about 1/2 the size of 2mm jets.

I found my current flow controller setting (4 to 5 on a Varistream) gave a nice rinse. This is the same setting I use on my standard brushes with 2mm jets. I would imagine the smaller brush will give a better coverage as the distance between the jets is smaller.

You would really need a much faster flow with 2mm jets to keep up.

The water trickles out of my brush with 2 x 3mm jets at that setting on the controller.

Personally, I would order 4 x 1.4mm jets.

Thanks Spruce.

I currently use a pair of 3mm jets on a standard supreme medium hybrid as it gives less splash back, which is handy with oxidized frames.

I find I can get a good flow through the jets. Probably helped by me using 8mm hose on the reel. I do not use varistream style controller, mine simply has on/off switch and a single dial to regulate water flow.

I went for 4x2mm jets. Used brush for first time today on 3 blocks of flats and the jets worked perfectly well. Would have been a mistake IMO to use smaller jet size.

It must help that I use 8mm hose on the reel. I did not even have to turn controller up very high to get a good stream.
