So i've had my WFP system Van mount for 5 weeks now. Last week after 4 weeks of use, the Rectus 21 Female connectors on the hose reel basically are just not connecting properly, male ones arent much better, they are all scuffed and damaged. They are just about working, but can take ages to get in, literally minutes sometimes. Got replacements delivered today but its like £18 for a full Rectus 21 male and female set... Don't want to be changing this regularly if i can help it.
So Pure Freedom sell protector discs for the female of the rectus 21 for the hose reel connector side. Gardiners sell the protector balls for the pole hose which i have the rectus 21 male connector. So has anybody used any of this, do they actually work or does anybody have any tips for helping with this so it doesn't become a regular problem. Also need a way to figure on using this alongside the 4 way roller guide i have.
Cheers guys.
This is a pretty easy problem to solve. My Rectus 21 fittings are lasting years, not months or weeks. The clue is in what you say.
A male connector can only get damaged, scuffed etc if it is not plugged in and is dragged along the floor. Some people here advocate getting a rectus 26 as its bigger and stronger ? My advice is pick it up and don't drag it along the floor, then it can't get damaged.
The rectus 21 females.......in most cases they cannot pull back cleanly or connect cleanly because the male they are connecting to is damaged. So trying to connect to a new / good condition male should not be a problem. The damaged females i have seen have been worn collars because they have been dragged across the floor, then couple that (pardon the pun) with a worn male and its easy to see why you have problems.
The solution is simple...............pick them up when you can, which should be all the time. Or cover the whole union in gaffer tape weekly. And BTW, just why is it your unplugging them ? Mine don't get disconnected unless i'm changing poles ? And its impossible for a male connection that is plugged in to get damaged ?
