I'm sure you are an excellent window cleaner. Likewise I offer an excellent gutter clearing service so tend to charge higher than most in my area. I also have no issues gaining profitable new work, referrals, repeat custom by charging more.

I take no notice of what others want to charge so maybe you should start doing the same?

That'll be the difference between a good window-cleaner and a good businessman.

I'm not supprised at all as happens to me quite a bit being more expensive than most.
As the saying goes "If you don't ask you don't get" and all that.

For example I did a small gutter clearing  job today worth  £120 that took 1.5 hours total.  You know me I'm slow and take my time including setting up, one cuppa, packing away and getting the owner to get their cat off me van roof before leaving.

The last guy charged £40 using ladders and did not do them very well apparently.  ::)roll
"You get what you pay for" was my answer to that one. I also did not drive off with their cat...bloody cats  ;D

The thing is if the guy had cleaned them well you would be in trouble, plus what sort of moron would you need to be not
to be able to do a passable job cleaning a gutter.
I do laugh at how some like to big this job up though.
There's lots of window cleaners that don't need customers to not value their work as they don't value it themselves.

I'm an excellent window cleaner and know it, that said I live in a town that has many excellent window cleaners and customers
who seem to know what they need to pay to get the service of one of these excellent window cleaners.
That said there's still a good living to be had as there's a least one guy who's become a millionaire running a window cleaning
business, thing is because of him it would be impossible for anybody else to do the same as he does a decent job at a competitive
price and as his round is massive it also gets him a lot of recommendations.

But cant complain its just part of the fun that us guys in the real world have to deal with. lol.
This is where we differ because my attitude would be "if he can do it, so can I".

It a discussion on pricing and as with all pricing topics they're best ignored after leaving the computer screen, but its fun
winding up the blow holes. lol.

Nothing wrong with that and with window cleaning your hardly going to go belly up trying, there just isn't enough available
work left in my area to build a 25 employee empire which was my point.
I'm  sure I could do it elsewhere if I really wanted to though.

If you put your mind to it you can achieve anything you want in your own area.
The only thing holding you back is yourself and maybe 25 guy's from the same firm saying get off my patch.
If that's the case just ignore them and maybe build your own little empire at higher prices just to show them it can be done.

Simple case of business head on, price your jobs business minded, not that which you would pay as a customer!

When theres threads on here, that seems to be the divide......i'ld be embarrassed if i quote those prices,,,,,,i wouldnt pay that if i was the customer!! Etc etc.  Or price confidently in your ability and the quality that you attain to and the business professional look....

How many are suprised when they get that job that you over priced because you dont want to do it!! Do you learn from that or simply you have that one really great priced job on your round!!??

I undercut myself earlier.

Picked up a new job and explained to her that i couldn't possibly charge our current minimum charge of £15, so would do it for £12.
