I forgot about this but I'll put it out there.

Someone phones you up.

We have a major supermarket roof that needs pressure washing, the store is open and there will be heavy footfall into the store. You will be working directly over the store entrance while all this is happening. There will be no hoarding or canopy erected. You will then go onto clean the rest of the roof, one side that is high street, there can be no pavement/road closures.

You will have to contend with pedestrians and traffic.

Oh the H & S nightmare - feasible. I'd like your thoughts?

Where are the replies to this??

Well in the scenario you describe we hand out free umbrellas and rain coats. We then get good ear plugs so we don't hear complaints and abuse, then just ignore the public and carry on as if there not there.......easy

Find somebody daft enough to do it as cheap as possible with little regard for the safety of the public. Who will take the flak if it all goes tits up......is that the correct answer?

Or is the answer to do it properly and get lots more work from it.

Again I'll stick with my way of doing things.

You clearly offer a professional service, have a good client base and have the kit to make it happen.

Get rid of those two pictures off your website, there's another with an extending lance and 12 inch FSC, fella stood on the roof. No harness.

If I can find them on your website so can potential clients.

I don't take those chances because I look at it like someone is always watching.

I need water - poop it's too far away. What do I do?

I buy enough hose to supply the van tank from the tap.

I run with 80 metres and then about 150 metres of high pressure hose, if that wasn't long enough I'd get more of each.

HSE would see the moment - they wouldn't give you any slack and you know that.

If he fell you're liable. No debate

That's true, but I think if we all covered ever instance we would never get anything done . I live and work in the really world and we may not be perfect but we do our best. 16 years with no claims or accidents can't be to bad , but who knows what tomorrow may bring.

Charlie

You've got the kit. There might be a  need to call you up in the future. I do a lot of work down your way.

I only offer advice from my experience and that's all I've ever done.

There seems to be a 'general' bandwagon on here that people jump on, doing their best to shoot it down.

The 'secret group' was no more than a few disenfranchised guys who got fed up of all the unnecessary stuff, as has been the case on this post and that got up peoples noses so they left. They now talk among themselves on Whatsapp but because of that the forum lost good people who had done the work and built their businesses and were happy to offer solid answers to questions asked.

Roger - what he didn't know about wood restoration wasn't worth knowing.

I offered advice it got swallowed up with the 'usual' replies.

I can live with that. I'm neither in the group or out of it but I have a lot of useful connections with the guys and get on with them.

Cleanitup would be a better place if it wasn't anonymous and we could see where the advice was coming from.

I think the main problem with any type of forum there will be members that get fed up and move on for whatever reason. Maybe they think others are beneath them so go off and form their own secret little group who knows.

Regards to your post "I've just cleaned this..." and your replies to people asking questions etc. I'm sure they can make their own mind up the way you have replied and why you really found the need to post it in the first place.

I'm sure you are very good at what you do but a bit of humility may not go a miss either.
