2 drives in one day
« on: August 01, 2016, 05:48:49 pm »
Whilst in the middle of a drive clean I took a 5 min break and wanderd over to an old boy with one of those electric weed rotory brushes.   Anyway we get chatting on his new toy as you do. 5 mins later into the conversation I'm booking his drive clean in after I finished across the road.  I don't think he was that impressed with his new toy after all.   ::)roll

To top it off I was having another 5 min break and struck up a conversation with a lady who lives next door to the previous drive I cleaned whilst she was tending her plant pots at the front garden. Within 10 mins that drive was also booked in for next week.

The other old boy next to the second one I was cleaning was a contreate drive and looked like it had never been cleaned at all. When he came back from poping out in his car I asked if he wanted his drive cleaned as well. After giving him a price his reply was "I would rather spend it on beer." Now that mad me laugh  :D

Still 2 new jobs out of 3 is not bad going just by going out of my way talking to people whilst taking  breaks.

Do you guys do the same?

A job i did a couple of wks ago, very similar happened. Daughter (who lives elsewhere) of a woman who lived opposite to the drive i was cleaning, came out to have a look at the work i had been doing. We got talking and im doing her drive this friday as a result. Al-be-it she engaged me in conversation first though. But i do try that approach or if not i normally canvass 2 to 3 doors either side of where ive been working.

i    thought you meant you did 2 drives in one day   ::)roll - but yes on both accounts ( we also leave an advertising board prominently displayed until we re-sand

I often get walk ups asking for a price but we also drop cards into the neighbouring houses apologising for disturbing their day with our noisy machine which gets a few calls.

I won't do a job there & then if I give a price...... I always book it in for another day (even if I have the time)

Yep Smudger I cleaned a total of 2 drives in one day.
As mentioned one was booked in plus another one I picked up across the road straight afterwards.
Would have done the other one as well as had time but thought sod it 2 was enough for one day as I'm not use to all this work malarky.  ;D

I've never really botherd to drop cards or put a sign up afterwards myself chaps.  Probably because I'm just too lazy to bother.
However I will have a natter to anyone whilst working especialy when the see the results of a clean as makes their drive look awful.

Taking about being lazy I could not even be arsed to take before & after pics today as you do.  ;D

It's  one of the good things about working as a 2 man team you always have time to put out some cards or leaflets, no matter what the job is like at some point one of you will be stood doing nothing. Usually it's my helper and I hate to think I'm paying him to watch me work. he knows if it looks like he will be stood doing nothing for over 10 minutes he goes leafleting

On reflection I should really get some boards and leaflets made up so to help passively drum up some more work.

Thanks chaps

I need to get a helper so I can sit on my arse and let him do all the work. Sounds like a good plan to me ;D
