Swapping handle around on reel
« on: July 20, 2016, 08:07:18 pm »

This is my 2nd reel.
The handle, as you can see, is on the left hand side.
But I want it on the right.
Is there a way to swap it round?
I assume there is but don't want to strip it down if there's not...

TIA

Turn the hosereel 180 degrees   ;D
The only way is to strip it down.

Just wind the hose on the other way round the reel then the handle will be on the right!
Sometimes our reels get fully unwound and wound up the other way.
Some days the handle is on the left, sometimes on the right.
No need to strip anything down!

The handle to pick it up with will be leaning the wrong way then.
Thanks anyway though.

Cheers lads. Job for Saturday with the children methinks.

If you are going to strip it down then yes
Take it apart and then turn the spindle the other way around
Takes some fiddling around though as there are about 5/6 tiny nuts & bolts on each side!

I've got one left handed and the other right so that we dont get in each others way if we have two reeling in at the same time
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

Cheers, Don.

My decent reel is bolted into the van.
This is the spare and for the boy to use.
It gets wound up on the floor.

Mount it onto a piece of wood so it stays stable when unreeling/reeling

He'll probably be able to keep it in the van as well then

I have thought of that but like him doing it on the floor. It helps him remember the chain of command ;D

Unwind the hose fully and try and loosen the brass screw thread  fitting  to rotate the  elbow in which the hose connects to,,it's quite fiddly as there is bars in the way.
